So when I watched the launch show and saw Chelsea's intro I thought it was a joke, like he was some kind of actor told to dress up in silly clothes and act ridiculous.



I mean it looks like he's wearing a wig and is wearing some kind of Halloween costume. I'm sure some of it's cultural differences between the UK and here in the US but I can't imagine anyone going out in public like that without everyone in sight pointing and laughing at them. I remember him saying something about how he was coached to say he was really rich, is this guy for real? Are there actually people like that over there?

Yes, there are - he's a good example of an eccentric British character, but we laugh at him, too.

I mean, he does remind me of an Elvis impersonator, maybe that's why it feels like he's doing some kind of act!

I suppose it depends on how much he himself buys into it. Love the comparison to an Elvis Impersonator - I've seen blokes like him who are the 'real' thing.

I think he calls himself Chelsea because it's a posh part of London and he identifies with that - whether he actually lives there or not, I'm not sure. Sounds as if he comes from somewhere round about Brick Lane in the East End.

I found this show a few years ago and watched it just because I found it interesting seeing how different people over there are from over here, different slang, foods, fashion, etc. Now it just hard to tell what's real and what isn't!

Yeah, I know. My husband's from the US - he's lived here 20 years and he still gets bamboozled about how things are.
