Hiya,

Aston Villa have recently released there new forum and one thing that impressed me about it was he ability to rate peoples posts. Go and check it out;

www.avfc.co.uk / left hand side 'fans' then 'message board'

I thought it was a good idea, but would it be too much work for this forum to incorporate it? I haven't really thought about the pros and cons of it but it's the one thing that really stood out for me that i havent seen on many other forums.

I can see there would be benefits Tanser but would we want there to people who felt that they had no value on the forum because people did not bother to rate their posts, and also others would rate their pals posts as brilliant when they could possibly be TOSH!!!

if its rep points then it depends on how its used

We (another site i mod on) allow members to trade points for privilages like access to secret rooms, bigger avatars, etc

Also members use it to buy services from other members like sigs, downloads

They get points from members, for post count and for help (i.e. if a member helped another on the site when a mod werent abt

Well thats always a con i suppose. I just think it would be a good way to acknowledge somebodys post. Like sometimes you make a point and you feel it's gone unnoticed, a rating would at least give you the peace of mind that somebodyhas seen it (good or bad).

There are lots of things that can make people feel bad on a forum, i don't really see how this would change anything. Obviously some members might take it too heart but it's the same with many voting threads/polls etc.

I'm not entirely concerned about it being brought into this forum, just thinking of ways to possibly make TiBB an even better place!

That sounds a little too technical for this forum!

It's not so much reputation points more thread/post ratings rangeing from 1 star to 5 star.. that could be perceived as rep though by some people i guess.

You can't rate yourself on the Villa forum, just everyone else. Not so 'dumb'!

It's a good idea, but I don't think it would suit TiBB because a lot of it will be based on popularity contests and we wouldn't really get an idea of good posters.
