Interestingly the official ratings for ITV2s Love Island have come out with a strong consolidated 1.25 million viewers in its first week. Compared with last year's 0.50 million viewers and BB16 (timebombs) overall series official of 1.36 million viewers, is it considered more successful than BB, in terms of viewership loyalty, profit etc. For the channels? Also could we see any LI contestants appear in future BB or even CBB series? And is the reason for on par ratings due to LI's success stealing from a typically loyal BB fan base? Interested to hear everyone's points!

Get those ratings LI
![]() They deserve it tbh - they went all out with the promotion this year and it paid off for them. Not to mention this year's Islanders are great too and it's better than last years series so far. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets re-commissioned for a third series next year tbh. Last edited by Jason.; 19-06-2016 at 09:45 PM. |

I don't get the point unless I'm reading the OP wrong
![]() Why are you comparing this years LI ratings with Timebomb ratings instead of this years BB? What does it prove? |

comparing 2 series which aired in different years doesn't really work though. As of now, BB has beaten LI in the past 2 years

Love Island has a simple format with fewer characters who you get to know.
Big Brother has too many housemates and the twists distract from what is going on. Without the live feed, BB is just any other reality show and it loses it's appeal. |

Zara has been funnier on Love Island than anyone on BB. And Kady is a right little cow who I can't help but like.

The big difference between LI and BB these days is that LI has a pre determined format that its fans understand and can follow. BB has no definition and the producers run the show whichever way they think the show should go.
On LI the fans are boss, on BB the prods are Boss and the fans don't matter. On LI we get the same types all the time and they are from simple backgrounds. On BB the HM's are picked because of the degree of mayhem they are likely to cause and their antics in the house are Faux so it throws the dynamics way off and creates issues for the fans. |
