1,000 0-hour jobs mind. They're low risk for corporations so it's not much of an investment on their part.

Yeah I've known a couple of people who have worked there and have described it as a nightmare. Also very high staff turnover, they seem to hire / fire for no reason as standard. Someone working next to you one minute, hauled into the office, and shown the door five minutes later (having to do a "walk of shame" past everyone on the way out). Next day a fresh face in their spot.
Absolutely no job security and for anyone who has bills to pay, endless stress and worry. I can see how it's an OK job for teens still living at home or students looking for some extra cash - people whose world won't collapse when they get shown the door - but these are not the sorts of jobs that you can realistically run a home or support a family with. I mean I complain plenty about me job, yes, but it's contracted hours and salaried, 6 weeks paid holiday, up to 6 months full sick pay, pension scheme, etc... The job itself can be hard but at least that side of things isn't an extra stress. I can't imagine working in that sort of zero-hour environment where you are literally a throw-away part. |
