Default Bodycam Shows Fatal Officer Involved Shooting USA

Wagoner, OK - Wagoner police released video showing an officer-involved shooting incident from June.

The police chief held a media briefing to explain what happened following a high-speed chase that ended near SW 13th and Polk on June 7.Body-cam footage ends with Wagoner Police Officer Robert Reynolds firing four rounds at Henson, killing him.

Officers said the whole thing started as a routine traffic stop.

Chief Bob Haley said a Wagoner County Deputy pulled Henson over, that's when he found out Henson had a felony arrest warrant out of Mississippi for burglary. The chase ended when officers say Henson rear-ended one of the patrol cars and clipped it, causing him to spin out and roll his car.

Wagoner police say Reynolds got out of his car, telling Henson to come out with his hands up, but, they said Henson, instead, hid behind his car.

That's when they say Henson darted out, pointed his hands in the shape of a gun at the officer, telling the officer "you're going to have to kill me

"Reynolds fired four rounds, thinking Henson had pointed a real gun at him."

Just shows you how hard it is to be a Cop in the USA, from a routine traffic stop to a near death situation.

What do you think?

I think if you can't tell the difference between someone's hand "in the shape of a gun" and an actual gun, you probably shouldn't be a police officer.

FFS there are also 5 shots fired. The fifth when the guy is on the ground. They can't even report the story properly when there's an attached video?

Shots are fired 5 seconds after the cop leaves his vehicle. 5 seconds.

Then keeping him "covered" when they know fine well that he's been shot to pieces and being sure to add "he pointed a gun", all for the benefit of the cameras.

You can't honestly be using this as an example of anything other than trigger-happy incompetence?

Yet British police manage to resolve chases like this without the use of deadly force on a nightly basis. Baffling, really.

False. There are millions (yes, millions) of illegal firearms in the hands of criminals in the UK.

The argument that it's OK to shoot someone five times because he "might" have a gun is ridiculous, by the way.

Yes but on normal traffic stops UK policemen do not encounter dangerous armed crims and dangerous armed crims tend not to travel around with weapons they are used specifically

(its not really an argument TS, go ask a policeman in your local area if they have ever stopped a member of the public who turned out to be armed)

You shoot to kill in that situation, he thought the perp had a gun, he is trained to shoot to kill.

I've said before that I suspect the training is lacking.

If you think someone is armed you don't hop out of a car and charge at them fully in the open, leaving yourself exposed and vulnerable and in a situation where you might have to shoot someone four times and-then-one-more-for-luck because he (allegedly) made pew-pew fingers at you and you got a startle.

That should be common sense, but apparently it's not even procedure.

Edited to add "allegedly" - the video is obscured so you can't see whether he makes a hand gesture or not. I suspect it was probably an added detail to sweeten the story. Much like when they pretend to be covering him and shouting "don't move!!" when he's already full of bullets and clearly hasn't even twitched.

No carrying guns is illegal here and 99.99% of stops do not involve guns, i am sure they are still on guard a little for other types of weapon as a good officer should.

There was a guy at the Dallas protest walking about with an AR-15 slung over his shoulder. The UK in incomparable to the USA in this regard

open carry an AR-15 in Dallas
