Celebrity Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty is in talks to launch her own perfume.

The Bollywood star will fly out to France in April and chat to executives about the type of fragrance she wants to use for her first UK product.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Shilpa's been approached by a number of companies interested in branding her name. But the perfume option is what appealed to her the most.

"There's a niche in the market for a perfume by an Indian actress. And she's hot property at the moment, so now's the time to cash in on it."

CELEBRITY Big Brother winner Shilpa Shetty is launching her own perfume.

Like Big Brother bully Jade Goody - whose Shh! scent had to be pulled from shops after her on-screen clash with the Bollywood beauty - Shilpa aims to turn herself into a global brand with a celebrity fragrance due out later this year.

A source close to the star said: "Shilpa's been approached by a number of companies interested in branding her name. But the perfume option is what appealed to her the most.

"There's a niche in the market for a perfume by an Indian actress. And she's hot property at the moment, so now's the time to cash in on it."

Shilpa, 31, who won Celebrity Big Brother last month after the international controversy over alleged racism in the TV house, is still in the early stages of creating the scent.

She is due to fly to France in April to talk to perfume lab bosses about exactly what the smell should be. The source said: "We're only in preliminary stages at the moment. Shilpa's definitely launching a perfume, but other than that, the details are still being ironed out. She's a big fan of the Body Shop - especially all the fruity smells, so she'd probably like her perfume to be like that."

Although a name has not yet been decided, sources say the star and her mum Sunanda, 57, are keen for it to be called simply "Shilpa" - and she doesn't usually make business decisions without her mother's approval.

The source said: "Mrs Shetty is very dominant in Shilpa's affairs. She was the one who was initially excited by the perfume idea and encouraged her daughter to go for it."

I was reading a thread on DS and they were trying to name the perfume, as 'Shilpa' wasn't good enough for them. They had some good ones. Some funny ones too. One's like elegance and grace.

I'm kind of sick of Shilpa. I liked her in CBB and wanted her to win but now she's just annoying I am not a racist person but I'd rather read about British celebs. I know that sounds harsh sorry

'Journey from actress to diva has begun'



Shilpa Shetty will soon launch a perfume in her name in the UK, after which she will begin writing her cookery book," informed her spokesperson and publicist Dale Bhagwagar at a press meet in Kolkata this week.

The actress who flew down to Mumbai for four days after the 'Big Brother' win, is back in UK to honour commitments, he informed. "Shilpa dropped in as she was feeling homesick. She was missing Mumbai and her dad, so she hopped on a private jet as soon as she got some time to spare. But now, she will only return after a week," informed Bhagwagar.

Refusing to reveal her exact travel plans and movements, he said, "they have been kept a secret due to security reasons."

On returning to Mumbai, Shilpa will complete her shooting for Anurag Basu's 'Metro' and Anil Sharma's 'Apne' and simultaneously take a call on the various film offers that have come her way after her international fame. "Its going to be a balancing act between Bollywood and the West. Her journey from actress to diva has begun," Bhagwagar added.
