Default Housemates find out about Brexit result & aftermath in BB News task

Quote:
The Big Brother 2016 housemates found out about key real life news stories – including the UK’s vote to leave the European Union and Theresa May’s appointment as Prime Minister – when Andy West hosted BB News in a task.

Yesterday, Big Brother asked Andy – a real-life journalist and former BBC local news anchor – to present a BB News broadcast to the other housemates from a studio in the task room.

It saw him conduct in-depth interviews, hear ‘home truths’ from existing and former housemates – and reveal actual headlines from the outside world.

First, he reported on the Daily Star’s story that ejected housemate Emma had been dumped by her boyfriend Josh – who spent two days in the house – after she “disappeared for 20 hours” with first evictee Marco.

Andy crossed live to Marco’s BB bedroom partner Laura for her reaction, and she appeared to believe the story was fake, saying: “I think that Marco would have given her a very good time. But obviously, Josh is her boyfriend…”

Big Brother interrupted: “In the first part of the news, all headlines are real.”

The revelation floored Laura, who continued: “Oh my God, Marco, you little s**t! I can’t actually… I’m really shocked. Not at Marco, but I’m a little shocked at Emma.”

In a later challenge, Andy read out a variety of headlines, and the other housemates had to guess whether they were fact or fiction.

There were mixed reactions among the group as they discovered for the first time that Britain voted in favour of Brexit in last month’s EU referendum – and that the country now has its second female Prime Minister after Theresa May replaced David Cameron last week.

Other stories they were faced with include the news that Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger is to become a dad for the eighth time at the age of 72.

The task airs in tonight’s episode at 10.00pm on Channel 5 and TV3.

I'm usually against them finding out about stuff like this, but wrapping it around a news task is actually a good idea. I was hoping that they'd show a VT during a final with all the outside news (similar to BBAU) but I'll settle for this.
