Default Just a thought on the others twist

I've always thought that the others twist could've been executed better if it had lasted longer, and if the others had actually stolen their places in the house. At the same time though, I was never there for housemates (others) evicting housemates.
But I just realised, that happened during annihilation week... And it worked well...

So, my thought is; why didn't they continue the others twist longer/have annihilation earlier and let the others (say there were 4 left by this point) do the evicting during annihilation week to actually steal places in the house? (to make it fair, the last annihilation could've been the public saving between 1 housemate and 1 other or something)
It could've worked so well and would've gave the whole series twist a purpose!
