From todays currant bun:
A STUNT to win over the people of India backfired on Jade Goody yesterday when women were knocked flying and children trampled underfoot in a Delhi slum. Jade, 25 — who hit headlines last month for abusing Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty during TV’s Celebrity Big Brother (oh please get over it and stop filling up your columns with this crap. I am sure everybody is aware by now!) — visited an impoverished area of the Indian capital to be photographed with penniless kids. She spent 45 minutes inside the Railway Project — a scheme to help orphans forced to scavenge for a living beside train tracks. But no provisions were made for around 50 children not invited into the small hut, adorned with a poster saying “Welcome Zad Goddy”. A crush formed as they were left outside in sweltering 30°C temperatures in the Mayapouri district. Mum Anu, 26, was knocked to the ground with her three-month-old tot. She said: “My baby is hurt — who is this awful person? “She is not welcome here if she is going to behave like this.” Despite insisting it was a private visit (yeah right!), Jade was in India with Shilpa’s former agent Jazz Barton and a TV presenter who works for Jade’s management company. Jade finally emerged, seemingly unfazed by the chaos. She stepped smiling into her car to return to her luxury hotel — as angry locals banged on the vehicle’s windows. Mum-of-two Jade later pledged to donate all her Big Brother earnings to charities for Indian kids. She told a news conference at her swish hotel: “I was an underprivileged child, but nothing like the children I’ve met today.” Jade, whose row with Shilpa sparked fury in India, added: “I’m so sorry for the hurt and pain my actions caused.” This woman causes carnage wherever she goes! |
