Default Smoking....

I have smoked since I was 19 yrs old and I am really getting to the point where I need to stop and really want to stop but everytime I try I cant..
What do you guys think of smokers?
How did you stop? Did you find it hard?

I smoke myself sometimes..And it is hard to stop..I can't imagine how hard is must have been for you to try and quit after 19 years. But you need sooo much will power, I quit for about..2 days once and that was hell!

I dont crave them, But when I dont have them, I need them..Especailly when I drink, Gotta have a ciggy with alcohol!

I've smoked since I was 13, I told myself at 18 I was gonna quit, but I'm 18 now, and still smoking.. It's comforting for me, although I know it causes serious illnesses. My whole family smokes, including my nan before she passed away, so I think it'd be double hard if i wanted to quit, what with the constant temptation around me. I once quit for 2 weeks, but I didn't feel like the same person, constantly moody, tense, and dismissive, so I dunno.

On a side note BlackDiva, you can get these new pills from your doctor, that apparently help with quitting smoking, good luck to you though, if you succeed I bow to you lol.

I've stopped in january 2006, but I've restarted since november, since my english trip !
10 months without cig are really hard but sometimes you don't think about it. It was really hard to stop, I practive handball since.
Since november, I can't practice a lot or running during a long period, so I have to stop but i can't this time !
and I'm 17 by the way !

I don't have anything against smokers, but i just really don't like it, and the smell it disgusting. People are always smoking on my school bus, and it just irritates me so much! And at clubs about 1 in 3 are smoking while on the dancefloor. And it annoys me when people try shove them in your mouth. I just hate the peer pressure of it all. But i know im never going to smoke because i just think its gross.

No offence smokers!

I stopped in August last year! I have had a few slips along the way but am now smoke free!

I have to admit though when I first stopped it felt like a friend had died, it was almost like I was on mourning for the love of my life (tragic I know)

Now I could still happily light up but have the will power not to

I went to smoking cessation and found that the extra help was a life line, I have tried and failed prior to this. The patches and inhalator were great for me and it was easy enough to wean off them when I was ready.

Give it a go and I will happily offer any support that I can along the way

Aww - i guess you dont like the fact she smokes.

My dad used to smoke cigars, then he decided to quit when we went to california - because there its pretty much a no smoke state - only on your own premesis.

So then he stopped! it was great!

It aint easy - I had smoked since I was 13 and am 36 - I had managed to get myself to smoking nearly 40 a day which is really bad. I started off by slowly reducing leading up to my planned stop date in August (having a plan is soooo important) which made it much easier (lies)

Anyhoo will be here for you and the lovely Mr Moon when you decide to kick the habit

I think the best plan is to visit the doctors and ask for as much help as possible. I've started to reduce the amount in the last week so i'm not smoking so much.

I quit before i fell for my first child and found the first two weeks the worst but once that passed it was ok-ish. Once i went back to work I started again... shame really. i will do it this time round
