Default Kate Thornton and Louis Walsh are axed

Presenter Kate Thornton has been axed from the X Factor. Also axed is judge Louis Walsh.

Another change announced today is that there is to be an extra category for the 14 to 25 year olds, this means that there will be 2 new judges this year.

No names have been announced for the new prestenter or judges.

I read he was in talks with Shilpa Shetty. That would be great, Shilpa as a judge.

Why Shilpa? She knows nothing aboutsinging and said it hersefl, She mimes, not sings. I think Shilps would have been a good judge for 'Britain's got Talent' but not X Factor.

I think it was a mutual decision between Louis & Kate and ITV that they left. I don't think they were actually 'axed'.

Ben could take over the role of main host and they could find a lesser known host for Xtra Factor, perhaps?

I don't see why they're splitting the 14-25 group into boys and girls. Why that category? Why is the older category just one big category?

If any new groups were to be introduced, I'd have like to see the 'Groups' group split into vocal groups and actual bands who play instruments. That would have been more interesting, IMO.

I was expecting the new catagory to be 'Duets' and not Boys & Girls, i dont really like the sound of it but it might work out well.

I think the 14 age thing is ridiculous, therefore the little kiddies are going to win for the sympathy vote so its patronising

As talented as some 14 year olds are I dont think they are ready to be part of a show like this and for one to go on and win it would be too much too soon and could end up leaving them in a bit of a state should they end up failing, they would proably up releasing cover songs and we all know that formula is starting to become tedious and that's why Leona is taking her time to put together a mainly original album.

I never rated Kate as a presenter to be honest, be good to have a change but they really need to make the right choice.

Thank god some people agree with me. Shilpa is so irritating now. I prefer Louis to Sharon though and I heard a million rumours Simon was axing her after calling Chris Tarrant a '********g ******' and the way she treated Rebecca Loos was disgusting!

Not to bothered about Louie tbh. I dont think the x factor will be the same without Kate. I think Simon will want Cat Deeley to do it as hes seen her presenting American Idol.

Edit:

Deeley favourite for 'X Factor' host job
Friday, March 9 2007, 10:30 GMT

By Neil Wilkes, Editor

Cat Deeley has emerged as the favourite to replace Kate Thornton as the host of The X Factor.

The Stars In Their Eyes presenter is the 8/11 favourite to take the role, according to bookmakers William Hill.

Other contenders include Xtra Factor host Ben Shephard, BBLB's Dermot O'Leary, Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles and Family Fortunes host Vernon Kay.

Deeley has forged out a successful career as a presenter in the US in the last year: she is currently filming a UK version of American Idol for ITV2 and will front the second season of reality dance show So You Think You Can Dance for Fox this summer.

I think Cat would easily be a good replacement for Kate. Getting a decent one for Louis will be harder...the judges started to let personal thoughts effect their judging talents so I am glad Louis has gone.

I think Kate Thorton's axing could have been predicted. She's a talentless bimbo and that inane grin cuts right through me.

Louis is a prat. He doesn't give the show very much and when he started welling up over Eaton road being in the bottom two - I was throwing things at the TV. He had to go. At least Sharon's creates controversy and I personally thought her comments to Rebeccas Loos would have been appreciated by someone like yourself who likes a bit of bitchiness.

Two excellent moves.

The 14 year old thing, on the other hand, is a very bad move. Any 14 year old who does well on the show is destined for rehab by the time they reach 20. They'll be put under too much pressure at too early an age.
