Default This Primary School teacher gets £374,000 a year and 13 weeks holidays

  • Sir Craig Tunstall earns more than double the salary of the Prime Minister
  • As head of eight academies, he is Lambeth Council's best paid employee
  • Although academies set their own budgets, council foot bill for salaries
  • Lambeth top six employees earned £1.3million as lower positions were cut

Sir Craig’s package made him Lambeth council’s best-paid employee. His salary is around 80 per cent higher than the council’s chief executive and around double that of the other directors in the borough.

Sir Craig is executive head of the Gipsy Hill Federation, a group of eight primary schools that are still council-run.

A few weeks ago Lambeth council launched its tough choices website with one central message: between 2010 and 2018, its core government funding will have been cut by 56% and in a bid to save more than £40m this year, 500 out of 3,000 staff will be laid off – adding to the 1,000 who have already been made redundant since 2010. Among other changes, Lambeth plans to raise council tax by 3.99%.

Shouldn't this have been the main body of the article instead of being tagged on at the end?

'between 2010 and 2018, its core government funding will have been cut by 56% and in a bid to save more than £40m this year, 500 out of 3,000 staff will be laid off – adding to the 1,000 who have already been made redundant since 2010.'

If this are the stats for Lambeth then won't this be representative of other boroughs, boroughs that don't have scapegoats?
Or is it just Labour boroughs that face this level of cuts?

He gets around £100,000 more than the Metropolitan Police Commissioner who is responsible for 44,000 employees ( 31,000 officers together with about 13,000 police staff and 2,600 Police Community Support Officers) and the safety of London and the nation's anti terror policing...

Who knows? there are probably many like him that oversee many schools/hospitals/ other publicly funded organisations as an area manager as it were.
No doubt it will be under scrutiny now, but the focus is as they intended and not the languishing borough so job done.

The Academies set their own budgets and the council foot bill for salaries so that has a huge impact on their public spending

It's almost as if the academy system could've been abused in some way

How can he possibly be doing the proper job of a head teacher, while overseeing 8 schools?

SIR Craig - LMFAO - it is time this whole pile of garbage which is the Honours system was either more diligently scrutinised and vetted, or totally abolished.

He is one smug, mocking bastard who is IN on that 'State-sanctioned' Money Rinsing scam, which takes tax-payers hard earned money and channels it into the pockets of the REAL Ruling Classes via corrupt councils and authorities throughout the UK.

It is but one more facet of that scam which sees the Ministry of Defense pay £32 for ordinary light bulbs to Government Appointed 'Private Contractors' (among Millions of pounds worth of other 'vastly inflated priced' supplies and services from those same 'Private Contractors'), Local Councils paying HUGE parts of its budget in excessively expensive fees to 'Private Consultants', the Blair initiated PFI scam - a self-perpetuating 'loan' arrangement with 'Private Financiers' to build Jerry Built, ramshackle, bodged hospitals and kit them out with substandard equipment at astronomically disproportionate costs, at interest rates which mean that the ENTIRE hospital budgets are swallowed up just TRYING to service the loans. And so on and so forth, with thousands of examples to Infinity and Beyond.

Labour or Tory Governments - it makes NO DIFFERENCE - these scams have existed for decades and continue no matter WHO is in power.

This smug prick is just one of the lucky beneficiaries.

The average TEACHING ASSISTANT on minimum wage probably works HARDER for the Education Authority than this bastard.

..there has been talk for a while of not all schools having a full time resident head as such but more an executive head as he is where the salary is divided between however many schools they work for...they do still have a resident head in charge as well as/as oppose to an executive head being instead of..they don't all have the title of head but they do the role of a head and make most of the decisions as a head etc, you know...the finance bit..?...(the theory being..)...that it would all be a bit cost saving as well even with such high salaries as he is been paid because the acting heads wouldn't generally be paid as an actual head is now...(I'm not sure if this is making sense....)...but we had something similar locally where there was an executive head over-seeing a few schools and the deputy heads in positions of acting heads..(and rumour has it as the song goes..)...that it actually worked out as a bigger expense and wasn't cost saving at all...
