Default The Illegal Migrants problem in Italy is getting completely out of control

NEARLY 27,500 migrants reached Italy after crossing the Med in October – the highest total ever recorded for one month.

The EU’s border agency yesterday claimed people smugglers “crammed even more” migrants into unseaworthy boats in a bid to beat the winter weather.

The October total was twice the number recorded in September with Nigerians and Eritreans accounting for the largest number of rescued migrants.

The staggering figures mean that 159,500 have reached the Italian coast so far this year, mainly from Libya – up 13 per cent on the same period for 2015.

http://frontex.europa.eu/news/record...october-sc99xk

This illegal and deadly trade is fuelled by avarice as the illegals are paying 2-3000 quid for the trip.

4600 have drowned this year!

Professor Anna Bono of the University of Turin, an expert in African migration, has declared that most of the migrants coming to Italy are not refugees escaping from war or even poor people fleeing hunger, but young, middle-class males.

Bono also said that traffickers in African countries are vigorously promoting emigration to Italy through extensive ad campaigns promising a warm welcome and extensive welfare assistance.

“In the countries of sub-Saharan Africa there are advertisements inciting people to go to Italy, explaining that everything here is free. And indeed it is,” she said.

Last month, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi warned that Italy will not survive another year of mass immigration like the present one.

One of the main ways has to be stopping any freebies. They didn't get it in their own countries, and they managed, and they shouldn't get it here, Italy or anywhere else.

The only thing we should offer is safety nothing more. Alternatively they could be given community work to earn any small benefit they do get and this should constantly be reviewed - those not compliant deported. I know it sounds harsh but I see no other way of stopping it.

Our generosity is being abused and will continue if we let it. We can't cope with the sheer numbers and have to think of our own otherwise we will all suffer eventually.

But no one should expect to get everything for nothing. If they do, they don't deserve it.

Yeah there definitely needs to be some sort of deterrent. They need to know that they're not gonna get anything at all and deported if they're caught.Let them know that they've just wasted their money paying these criminals. It won't stop while Europe is so soft.

"How can we stem this? "

No LT

The only way is me building
a factory for them all to work hard in
and sleep there.

A Walmart Shop
will have a African Cafe
within our zone.

they can be paid in € or $.
local Italians can also work in the Mega high factory - built fast with metal and panels.

They will stitch Bags for life
cheaper than India or China.

Simple answer is deport them as soon as they reach dry land.
Only way to stop others using their riches to get here.

You have to be desperate to sit on that crowded dingy, it looks terrifying. But how do they afford to pay the people smugglers?

Now its the
Canary Islands

[Illegal Migrant crisis: Hundreds evicted from
Gran Canaria port as arrivals surge

Hundreds of migrants have been removed by police
from a crowded dock in Spain's Canary Islands,
following a sharp rise in the number
of people arriving there from Africa.
A group of 225 people were evicted from
the Arguineguín port in Gran Canaria on Tuesday,
but thousands still remain.
It follows protests over conditions at the port,
which an immigration judge earlier described as "inhumane".

A total of 16,700 migrants have reached
the Canary Islands so far this year.]

Without the desperation, any scam like this would be impossible.

Come on LT, recent events should have shown you that people react with kindness when others are going through tough times. Pass it forward,

You know as well as I do that folks aren't uprooting and taking what they know will be dangerous journeys, that they've saved up for, potentially over years, for a laugh and a free villa in Tuscany.

Its an illegal matter and these people are not welcome in that area and should be returned from whence they came. There are legal means to address their issues. People on the Canaries are trying to make their own lives and turn a coin. Respect them.

It's not either or. You wouldn't just stay in place if you lived in these places that have been destroyed over decades of war, poverty, and dictators.

They're humans, and no human should be considered illegal because they stand on a piece of land different to where they were born.

Jews weren't universally welcomed here either during the nazi regime, and many were smuggled in illegally. Should we have sent them all back to die?

you cant compare jews in the war arriving in the uk with illegal immigrants arriving now. During WW2 there were no other safe harbour countries in europe left, the uk was very much the only safe area. Fast forward to now and those fleeing war zones have dozens of available safe harbours before they get to the uk, and they have to travel through those safe harbours to illegally arrive here.

If we are taking refugees from camps in war torn areas directly, by all means grant them safe harbour here

It just smacks a bit of "We're Special Bwitain with no land borders so YOU can keep all the stinky illegals because you live closer to them".

Like... a convenient excuse that means we NEVER have to take ANY asylum seekers, because they literally cannot get here without moving through other safe European countries. I'm Alright Union Jack.

Those asylum seekers, not migrants, are turning up on the shores of Italy and the canaries according to the thread. The UK has it's own hate-fuelled dinghy thread.

You are consistent that they shouldn't be allowed here though.

...There are very few of us Jews in the world. We neither caused the world’s problems nor hold the answers. So if we’re not central to whichever issue of the day—and typically, we’re not—maybe consider leaving us, as an entity, out of it.

Jews aren't monolithic, regardless. I could find an opposing article from a jew about why we should be helping refugees and asylum seekers.

So then what?

Also, my argument isn't that because we helped Jews, we should help these people, it's "you're saying these people are illegal, do you think we should have treated Jews in the same way?"

It's a question I'd actually be interested in reading a response to.

What does that have to do with this thread? Other than avoiding the issue?
