Default homeless crisis - wrightstuff debate

homeless crisis - wrightstuff debate 29.11.16

the blame is the conservative
this problem needs a saviour
with out a cover and no preservatives
don't even bother thinking labor.
we are now in austerity
this is handy for teresa
the solution is not in her territory
to busy in pantomime shes playing ebenezer.
people with drink and drug habits
are being treated like supporters of isis
forgetting why they are going at it like rabbits
ignoring the health problem that puts them in crisis.
everyone has had a trauma
you will understand differently we handle
the homeless are running through like a dodgy korma
our support system is a shamble.
those fortunate enough to own
does not stop the greed
the supply and demand gap has now grown
accumulating a 2nd and 3rd house does feed.
the council have not built
the current stock is dwindling and in disrepair
landlord are torturing tenants with no quilt
they no the problem will never share.
more and more street sleepers
the problem is making me cry
council stock must not be for keepers
the problem did arise through right to buy.

I agree with some of that, not all, but I applaud you for your commitment and stamina. Well said.

I like the way you care about people in these situations and your attempts to draw attention to these issues.

I neither support labour or the conservatives and see fault on both sides. Our support systems in health and social welfare are in a terrible state making most of us fear for the future. Although I do believe lack of funding by the Tories is a deliberate attempt to dismantle the NHS I also believe labour's policies of giving away our services to those not entitled has much the same effect. Neither are blame free.

I also agree there should be more investment in council housing, housing is another area in crisis allowing greedy private landlords to profit from others' misery but I do support people being able to buy their own homes and give them a chance at home ownership they might otherwise not have had - it gives people hope and something to aspire to.

Your heart is clearly in the right place so I hope you keep on expressing your thoughts through poetry.

yes but this bit and I quote you

is taking the hope away from others - if they want to own so badly - go and do it in the private sector like everyone else. council stock for people that need it. if you want to own - do it like everyone else has to.

Realistically home ownership is becoming more difficult than ever and a lot less people will be able to get on the housing ladder.

If there is regular investment in council housing one should balance out the other, and with less people needing to rent and more people buying it can only be a good thing for our economy. I think giving lower-paid workers the opportunity to own their own home also encourages financial responsibility and self-worth, which is in turn passed from generation to generation.

many other countrys rent and that is the norm - don't no what the obsession is with buying. its fuelling this problem and putting people in deep debt ie from borrowing way over there limit.

well britain should look out for number one, the british people, and that would be are homeless, families who are on the breadline, and of course are veterans, and we should stop giving foreign aid to countries like india, pakistan, bangladesh, nigeria, where also giving foreign aid to syria, and it is time we said no to the freeloaders and the something for nothing refugees at calais, and that farce of a refugee policy to bring in children from the camps, it made my blood boil, there are 250.000 homeless people in england alone, they do nothing for them, but the government says, oh we can bring in up to 50.000 refugees and have them in nice homes and they can be fed and clothed, but are gold spoon leaders and people who live in posh houses say the brits who are in the poverty line should rot in the old boroughs, well thats the people in power for you.

It stinks. If we can't look after our own we can't look after refugees - it isn't rocket science. All in the name of political correctness, which we care more about than we do real people. The powers that be and anyone supporting this aren't kidding anyone other than themselves.
