Big Brother: Rags to Riches
Big Brother UK returns for it's 18th series with a new twist in store. As last year, there are again two houses used. The main house, that has been used since Big Brother 3, is turned into a rich house, meanwhile the other house is now a poor house. Channel 5 has set the launch night for 30th May, when 16 new housemates enter. The finale is set for 25th August, meaning that the series will last for 88 days. It would be the longest Big Brother series to air on Channel 5. Emma Willis will return as the main show host and Rylan Neal Clark will return to host Bit On The Side.

The Twist: On launch night, 16 new housemates will enter the poor house. The public has been voting via an online poll the whole evening for one housemate they want to send into the rich house. Big Brother will call out the housemate with the most votes and tells them that they must now choose one housemate that is coming with them. Then the chosen housemate will choose another housemate. The chain will end when 8 housemates are chosen to enter the rich house. The other 8 will be left behind to the poor house.

Nominations: The nominations will take place separately in the two houses. Both houses will have an equal amount of nominees each week. The house, that doesn't lose a housemate on the eviction night, will get to choose which poor housemate would be swiched with a rich housemate. The other house would be powerless in the decision.

The Two Houses: For the rich housemates, the life will be very easy and comfortable in the rich house, as there are 3 different bedrooms. The rich house has more private corners then ever before. The oak wood textures and calm tones are just what housemates need for their stay in the house. Meanwhile, the poor house is a nightmare to live in. It's open plan might make it look like a big house, but after living there a week with all those different personalities, you would just want to cry in the corner. The poor housemates will have to complete different tasks to earn hot water and beauty products. They can also trade with the rich house, with things like putting up one more poor housemate for luxury budget or hot water.

Always love the rich house, poor house concept but think you have to find something for the rich house to do. Giving the poor house tasks to earn the basics keeps them occupied, but I think the rich house need something to play for too - perhaps competing to guarantee their place in the rich house.
