I think it's a little different because we were in the EU 40 years we've been in the Union 400. We have a land border with Scotland and none with the EU. The ties are different. I've been very surprised by the hatred some Scots seem to feel towards the English, I guess history takes a looooong time to lay to rest. I've never thought about them with animosity.
Scotland has it's own parliament and are part of all votes and elections. Many of those running things in the EU are unelected. I think if the people really want to go then they should but I think the SNP are pushing the agenda for it too much just 2 years after stay result.

Brexit is about immigration, Scottish independence is about escaping Westminster

Well in principle they're probably pretty similar.Regaining control from an overarching power. If i was a Scot i'm not sure which way i'd go.I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the pitfalls.
I support Scotlands right to choose(again) though. Last edited by Northern Monkey; 06-05-2017 at 08:58 AM. |

That's a bit sweeping, it formed part of the push to leave, sovereignty seems to play a huge role as well, yet sovereignty for Scotland seems to be viewed as beneficial, but it's treated like a dirty word when used in the context of Brexit
