Gareth Malone and Kelis have been confirmed as full-time judges on BBC One's Pitch Battle.


Meanwhile, Joe Jonas and Chaka Khan are among names that will appear as guest panellists.

Telly's latest musical contest will see rival vocal groups go head-to-head in a series of challenges, including 'riff-offs' and an a capella round.

Of course, no talent show is complete without judges, and today the Beeb has revealed that Gareth Malone and Kelis will be in charge of the Pitch Perfect-inspired competition.

Gareth has become known as the 'nation's favourite choirmaster' after starring in BBC show The Choir.

He is notably behind the Military Wives group that beat X Factor winners Little Mix to Christmas no.1 in 2011.

"I'm thrilled and excited to be part of this fantastic new show," he said. "There's a wealth of singing talent in this country and I'm delighted to bring that to BBC One.

"To me this is about finding extraordinary groups who have the skill and personality to light up our screens."

Kelis is the BRIT Award-winning star behind hits such as 'Caught Out There', 'Milkshake' and 'Trick Me'.

She began her music career in church choirs and went on to sell over five million records worldwide.

Kelis added: "It’s kind of nice when things come full circle. I started singing in the choir as a child so it’s always been something special to me. Now here I am 20 years later as a judge on Pitch Battle."

Gareth and Kelis will be joined by a different guest panellist in each of Pitch Battle's six episodes.

Chaka Khan, Seal, Will Young, DNCE frontman Joe Jonas and rising star Bebe Rexha are among the names that will fill the rotating spot.

Meanwhile, bosses have also confirmed reports that Bake Off's Mel Giedroyc will present the show.

She commented: "I am soooo excited to be presenting this new show and PB will definitely be bringing some cracking music into people’s living rooms every Saturday!

"Not only are we going to be joined by some brilliant groups and megastar judges each week but to top it all off my old mucker the original twisted choir starter Gareth Malone will be there too. What a combo!"

Pitch Battle will air on BBC One this summer.
