The Observer has obtained a series of Conservative party attack ads sent to voters last week in the key marginal constituency of Delyn, north Wales. Activists captured the ads using dummy Facebook accounts after finding that their own ad – encouraging young people to register to vote – were being “drowned out” by the Tory ads.
The Conservatives have refused to supply examples of adverts the party is sending to individual voters on Facebook, despite growing concern over unregulated online election activity. Following a series of articles in the Observer concerning the use of data by Vote Leave and Leave.EU during last year’s referendum, the Information Commissioner’s Office has launched a wide-ranging investigation over possible breaches of UK data laws. https://www.theguardian.com/politics...ction-election

Never seen those leaflets before. I did get a leaflet from the local Tory, this is a Tory safe seat, asking me to put it in the window. I filed it in the bin with the Jehovah's Witness leaflet.

My 7 year old daughter got ad-spammed on a kids YouTube video by a Tory propaganda piece that painted Corbyn as a terrorist sympathizer and effectively as a murderer. Basically suggested that if the Tories don't win the election, Corbyn is going to let all of the terrorists in to murder us in our beds. Absolutely ****ing terrifying for people who are inclined to believe this trash. You know. Gullible people who haven't developed the capacity for rational thought yet. Such as 7 year olds. And Tory voters.
But yes... on kids youtube videos. Absolutely shameless. |

But I haven't seen it on Facebook either yet, not that I haunt the place mind. So, is it illegal? Has this type of canvassing been done before? |
