BB17 was already rating well before they decided to cut the series to 50 days. I'm pretty sure they announced that the week Charlie was evicted, when there was already two weeks left. Plus C5 don't really seem to plan in advance.

Evelyn was coming into her own as it drew to a close. She could have become a great given a few more weeks.

I seem to remember Emma referencing a short series on launch but then they didn't mention it again until Charlie's eviction. They must have realised there was no point in continuing for much longer without their star?

Nah they did tbf. After Georgina's eviction Rylan announced that we were half way through the series and the audience started clapping

NO Jake, they realised they couldn't make a whole series after Charlie's eviction.

I remember Emma said 'for the next eight weeks' on launch night and then they cut it even further

I suppose it's better than 40, but I don't see them extending it since they seem to have gotten back into shoving the celebs in when the civilians are barely out the door

It's a shame because even in France we have 10 full weeks even though ratings are at the same level as in the UK, if not worse sometimes.
I miss the old BB summer feeling. Three shortened series in a row is too much.

BB17 could have been so brilliant had they kept the 10 weeks format, because eventually with less housemates tensions arise and things change. Minds change, and it becomes a mind game of who can last the longest and not crack.

I mean it might be dire and I might want it over with asap, but why 52 days? Why not go back to the usual 64, see how ratings go and then cut it back a week or 2?

52 takes us to a Wednesday final... then a Monday launch for CBB perhaps? I think 60 days would be perfect, ending on a Thursday and then launching CBB on the Monday or Tuesday
