There are 7 million people with aids in Africa if those that have it took the two tablets to combat aids the disease would be wiped out in 15 years.

Thats excellent to hear. I used to work in Africa, and there was so much support for 'knowing you status', it wasn't taboo at all, loads of negative people were in relationships with positive people.. but there will always be people that cant afford the medication, and theres no short term solution to that, so I dont think 15 years is realistic..

And your other post about the 25k brits not knowing about their hiv makes the blood giving rule even more ridic! You just cant presume that zero of that 25k are straight.

There is enough medication for every one, its the stigma that needs to change in African men,
Men are not willing to get tested so aids will continue to spread.
But if you take the two tablets daily for the rest of their lifes they will not develop hiv and live a full life as it makes aids dorment, it also stops an infected person giving aids to any one else.

Yes we should. Any potential blood donors should have a blood screening.

Anyone should have the choice to opt for marriage or civil partnership. Yet the hetero community do not have this, and thus in the absence of a will, there is no protection for unmarried het partners.

This was all in the program the other night.

Its sad that all those that died could of lived full lives if the medication had been developed sooner.

Well statistically, they are less likely to have hepatitis or HIV but that doesn't mean they can't have it. Blood banks do carefully screen donated blood so the risk of getting HIV from a transfusion is extremely low but its not impossible. Its the same with hepatitis, more so with B than C.

Are you talking about Truvada? According to scientists it has a 50% success rate but can't stop people contracting drug resistant HIV and its the drug resistant strains that are rife in Africa.

Cant remember the drug names but, it was made clear if you take the two tablets it took peoples load count down to a level that was not readable and the virus would not be passed even with unprotected sex.
