Default Black barbie doll controversy: this is why I hate political correctness

Watch both of these clips back to back. How can both of these clips exist in the same universe?

If the doll is more expensive than the white one, black people are unhappy. Communists and lefties will claim this is to exploit blacks by taking their money. If the doll is cheaper than the white one, black people are unhappy. Sociologists will claim this makes blacks feel not as valuable as whites. The only way they can ever be happy is if the doll is the exact same price as the white one.

What's so bad about wanting equality, i.e. the same price for dolls no matter the skin colour? Let alone how this is apparently the fault of political correctness and/or communism...

They can exist in the same universe because - I've been lead to believe (I can't say for sure as I've never been there) - there's more than one person of each race in America. It's not a contradiction because different people are annoyed by different things?

The stupidest thing about it all, really, is that the first one is quite blatantly just a sales oversight - the dolls were clearly marked as being the same price pre-sale but the discounted price wasn't applied across the whole range so only the "classic" white barbie doll was reduced? If the standard price was different that would be another discussion.

The second one, to be honest, does have wider implications and if Walmart was using their brains instead of just algorithms they would have recognised that. Yes, one is reduced to clear because of not selling as well, but that's not necessarily a good thing to point out.

What's so bad about wanting to go 2 seconds without having this political correctness shoved down our throats? People look too much into things. This isn't a question of equality. It's a question of supply and demand.

"Why do we have to have political correctness shoved down our throats!", you ask, whilst shoving free-market economics down everyone's throats.

I'm not shoving it down anyone's throat. It's the system we live under.

It is indeed the system we live under. Pointing that out is informative.

And if something is the status quo, it ought to never be questioned. Right?

I doubt you were being intentionally sarcastic here but, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and say " Oh snap".

I was agreeing with the poster and supporting his thread. Defininitely not being sarcastic to him. You on the other hand shouldn't project.

People have the right to question it but, currently, that is the system. To get mad at Walmart or Target for going along with the system is not quite fair.

I am so sick of the "shoving down our throats" thing. For example i hate religion and it is LITERALLY shoved down our throats for centuries but i am not saying that because it is an important part of other peoples lives.. except when it is hateful against a group which then i will say something.

Also same group of people keep opening threads like this then complain about pc culture.. you are shoving it down your throat yourself..

Sorry, but I disagree that creating a thread is shoving anything down someone's throats. Opening a thread involves choice, choosing to respond to a thread/post involves further choice.

PC on the other hand aims not only to control thoughts and opinions but to intimidate. This allows for a lot less choice.

Then how is wanting a non-white doll, made by the same company and with its skin colour being the only real difference, to cost the same as a white doll in any way trying to "control thoughts" through intimidation? Isn't it just common sense? Or is this more of an issue with the black doll existing in the first place? There's a time and place for this 'boo political correctness is evil' stuff and I really fail to see how this is it

When i was young i worked in retail for a few years and this stuff happens all the time.Products that are almost identical but maybe a different colour or slight pattern or logo variation will be priced differently just because they're not shifting.Products are not looked at for what they actually are but just as a part number or PLU code or SKU code. There definitely should be more in depth stock analysis to prevent mistakes like this accross all Products to prevent similar items having wildly different pricetags.

I dont see these kinds of stories often unless threads open on tibb so i dont see how it is shoved down our throats.

I said "for example" . We are talking about the things that get "shoved down our throats" so it was a fitting example

They should cost the same unless, as another poster said, there is some reason why making one costs more to make than the other, although I can't imagine what that would be. That isn't the PC I am talking about.
