Celebrity socialite Paris Hilton has been ordered to appear in court next month over a parole violation that could land her in prison. The decision came after a behind-closed-doors legal conference with prosecution and defence lawyers in Los Angeles. Superior court judge Michael Sauer said Hilton must attend in person for a hearing on May 4. The blonde heiress, who is one of the world's most photographed women, landed in hot water after she was caught driving on a suspended licence. In January, Hilton pleaded no contest to alcohol-related reckless driving stemming from an arrest in Hollywood last September. She was sentenced to 36 months probation, alcohol education and £700 in fines. Hilton was pulled over again on Sunset Boulevard on February 28. Police said they saw her blue Bentley Continental GTC speeding with its headlights off. She was ticketed for misdemeanour driving with a suspended licence. Hilton's spokesman Elliot Mintz said at the time that she was not aware her licence was suspended. If convicted of violating parole, Hilton could be jailed for up to 90 days, according to Nick Velasquez of the City Attorney's Office. Wonder if she'll be able to take her pooch in with her? |
