Default What a mis-leading article

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...-a7830346.html

Just had to express my thoughts on what a mis-leading article this is. As the parent was biologically a woman when the child was born then this is not a case of the first man to give birth. They make it sound like some biological miracle.

Not just papers like the Sun predisposed to such melodramatics. :roll eyes:.

They explicitly write several details about his gender transition throughout the article... did you read the article?...

I did. I am referring to the title of the article. It is technically false.

You know exactly what I mean. It was made to sound like a biological miracle when The baby was actually born of a woman's body just like every other baby worldwide. What the parent chooses to do with their body afterwards is irrelevant. What is newsworthy about that?

...newsworthy because its the first time its happened in the uk... My mind didnt personally jump to 'miracle' tbh, although that would have been a cooler story, I'll give you that.

The title is vague and misleading but the article isn't. It's called "clickbait"... and this can't POSSIBLY be the first time you've encountered it?

It's like those links that say "This little girl starred as Matilda when she was just 7. You won't BELIEVE what she looks like now!!"

...and then you click on it, and she looks like a 30 year old version of the girl from Matilda, exactly how you would expect her to look.

Well considering that it's impossible for a biologically born male to become pregnant then surely it should have been obvious what the article was about.

I saw a similar story all over social media today actually...headings/comments such as 'its a miracle!' and 'first time ever' 'amazing' 'defies everything science ever taught you' and so on. I had an inkling that we had not had such massive leaps in science as the headlines made out but read anyway, only to discover that the amazing neverbefore thing that had happened was that a female and a male had had sex, and the female had conceived. My flabber was well and truly gastered I tell you. Truly once in a lifetime event there. Basically, the story was that a transman and a transwoman had had a baby. So...some people seemed absolutely astounded to discover that biological sex trumps 'gender identity' when it comes to procreation

Its just a total non story. Same as this one. Female people (or people of the sex with the potential to produce ova) become pregnant sometimes when they have sexual intercourse with males (or people of the sex with the potential to produce sperm) and have children. That is really nothing new at all.

My brackets are apparently necessary as previously biological terms such as female now have to include male people apparently. Where the fight appeared to be for the words man/woman..as it was largely accepted that gender identity was a mental thing rather than physical...which seems to have changed in the last year or so.

Well, he'll always be biologically female, it's impossible to change ones biological sex.
