Default Meat in the Future will be a Luxury item with 20% tax added

This was on debate on yesterdays Daily Politics
BBC2HD.
It costs the farmer to buy cereal to feed them
it will have to be a luxury food
higher cost for you.

I am sure McD will try and
keep their 99p/ 99€
Cheeseburger, though.
They can, as pay the tax
themselves not pass it on to the customer etc

So sooner or later
a 20% extra tax on Meat
Other Europe nations will also have to do it.

This is a discussion/idea that has been going on for years but the only way it can be done is for EU nationals and other countries around the globe agreeing to this tax plan. So far the lack of interest has been minimal and that's because people in wealthy countries can't be persuaded to eat less meat.

Its more likely we will end up taxing fossil fuels. That in itself will reduce the amount of animal flesh people eat, but neither is likely in the foreseeable future. Its not something that's being talked about by our government, its GP and other Friends of the Earth organizations that are trying to get our governments talking about it.

Oh and it won't send the cost of crops and cereals up. Vegetarians would not see a rise in taxes on their food products.

NO IT IS NOT.

Where do you come up with this stuff? So long as an importer of cereal/grain or edible plant products including organic products, follows correct procedures and follows the right import authorization channels, food imports will continue as normal. Why would we put a new veg EU import 20% TAX (your words) on products we need for our very survival?

What a selfish way of looking at it. Oh I don't want to eat meat, so lets make meat a stupid price for those who do

I think everything will skyrocket soon tbh. Except for wages of course, those will stay the same or get lower.

Its a "possible" 20% Import tax
it was debated yesterday on DP BBC2HD

But DR we will import USA Veg and other nations
at lower costs
try to be positive on whatever we end up with
by March 2019

That NEW tax is based
on a UK WALK OUT
no money paid to EU

Vegan diets may give you health benefits in the short term but in the long run you end up plagued with deficiencies unless you're taking supplements every day.
