Default Mail online celebrates the end of ISIS in Iraq

So whilst those reading the Mail online this morning may feel like celebrating. How can 40,000 mainly civilian deaths go unnoticed?

Most people cheer the end of a war - there is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't mean people haven't thought of the innocents that died, they are largely just relieved there will be no more casualties.

And it looks like there was a lot of Western air involvement.

While the area remains unstable it will never be the end.

Indeed. The propaganda we are fed regarding this war on ISIS is all about rallying our western nations in favor of air strikes and drone attacks. Another infuriating thing about that Mail article is the celebration of government police who are notorious for killing civilians in droves. They are known to torture and behead entire families if they find they have a relative who joined ISIS or other gorilla tribes.

You don't bulldoze an entire city to kill a few rats.

My thoughts go to all the innocents killed in this horrific attack.

All the people in the pictures posted and then all the comments from the readers that follow that article. It really isn't that difficult but I think you're just being your usual awkward self.

I am not being awkward and dont be personal. Your thread is all over the shop.

The comments posted are from members of the public and have NOTHING to do with the newspaper and the pictures posted are of Iraqis and again guess what they dont work for the mail either

Your thread says

Mail online celebrates the end of ISIS in Iraq

Its is misleading and incorrect

please change it

ISIS is terminated in one city for now but what do you think could rise out of the ashes? Perhaps something more terrifying than its predecessor?

I'm so sick of the one sided political correctness because it inadvertently encourages the wrong sort of people to grow and thrive.
TBH - and this is just a general complaint, not particularly directed at you, but there seems to be no such thing as Christianophobia, Hinduophobia, Judismophobia, etc - and let's face it the Jewish religion has probably been the most persecuted of all - including by Islam, so why doesn't it have its own special name - and why has Islam got its stand-alone 'ophobia'. I don't buy it - it is a made up word by people with an agenda, a PC word and it is ridiculous - most of all it is Discriminatory. It is about as one-sided as you can get in my opinion.

There is nothing special about Islam that entitles it to its own special word. It is simply a religion criticised by many for its discrimination of others including women and other religions. You cannot force people to respect any religion. You cannot forbid criticism of any religion and you cannot stop the questioning of injustice because it is perpetrated in the name of religion. You can legislate against hate crimes but that has to apply to all including Islam.

You say there's nothing special about Islam that entitles it to its own world but we are the ones who invaded their world. What right did we have to invade these countries in the Middle East? who are we to play God?

Muslims have lived in this country for many generations and up until recently, they just went about their life unnoticed by us, just like the Hindu's and any other religion living over here.

Now, some of those Muslims (but very few) bomb us and terrorize us. Have you ever stopped for a moment and wondered why? Could it be because we bomb and terrorize them? Could it be because we invade and kill thousands of innocents? Could it be because we root out and destroy any assemblance of government and throw their countries into such horrific destruction? Could it be because we created the enemy that has killed so many of them and now threatens the West... ISIS. Could it be because we are trying to create new empires?

And before anyone suggests I'm excusing the terrorists over here, I'm not but neither am I excusing our government for allowing things to get to this.

We support Israel. We support the apartheid against Islam and we support one of the most barbaric countries on this earth... Saudi Arabia but everything else is up for grabs. Seek and destroy and fcuk the collateral damage.

I'm not interested in bad mouthing Muslims. The way the men treat the women has gone on throughout history so why choose now to discriminate? Muslims are hated because they are fleeing over here in great numbers. Muslims are hated because a few nutters have murdered our own people. Popular media are on the front line at driving this hate because it sells newspapers and whilst some of us just shake our heads and choose to ignore them, others hang off their every word.

We need to let go of the hate and start looking inwards. We need to understand what's gone wrong, how was this created and how can it cease. We need to blame the right people here... the powerful and not the powerless.

The part I quoted where you asked why there "isn't a similar word for the persecution of Jews" .

... You HAVE heard of antisemitism, right?

Anything with ANTI as a prefix usually has a negative connotation including Islam as in anti-Islamic - so then Islam gets two words. :roll eyes:

Anti would mean "against" whereas phobia means "a fear of", so I guess the argument would then be that people are anti-islamic in part *because* they are Islamophobic.

However, Judeophobia is also a word.

Just because you personally don't know or aren't aware of certain words doesn't mean they don't exist, Brillo.

Brillo, you do realize that the Daily Mail were the one paper responsible for massive propaganda AGAINST to migrant Jews, before and during WW2? They instilled fear in their readers by persuading them that the Jews would rape their daughters and take over our country.
