So sad we still have people without basic needs in this day and age.

This is everything to do with the government and the removal of funding and facilities such as Lucy Faithfull house homeless shelter in Oxford last year, this is not isolated in Oxford but is a national issue that is/has crippled every borough.

Need I remind you that prior to June Oxford had been held by the tories for 30yrs?
They were committed to criminalising homelessness,

''A petition urging Oxford City Council to scrap plans to ban rough sleeping in the city has gained 65,000 signatures.
The proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) would ban certain anti-social activities in the city centre and fine those who breach the order.
Opponents say the PSPO would effectively criminalise homelessness and is an attempt by the council to "cover up" the city's housing crisis.''

What is the reason for the explosion in homelessness? Sometimes it helps to look at the bigger picture, no one council has any culpability here, nor is it a nationally shared shame, it is a central government funding failure issue. The shame is 100% theirs.

''Oxford continues to be one of the cities with the highest number of rough sleepers outside of London.
Numbers in the city last year rose from 11 in 2010 to 39''

Labour Council.

What does Jeremy say about it? That Oxford City Council plans to find the homeless? I expect he'll say it's the government's fault too.

Yes it's a Labour council I noted that the last time you posted it thanks.
What would I expect Jeremy to say about it other than it's a damning indictment of the current state of England under the tories that the vulnerable in Oxford to have nowhere to go?

What do you have to say on the issue of funding cuts?

If you want to talk about funding cuts start a thread. This is about Oxford City Council prosecuting homeless people.

The vulnerable have never had anywhere to go under any government. The last Labour government turned its back on them the same way the Tories have. But for a Labour council to victimise these people, to prosecute them and fine them, as if you could get blood out of a stone, actually shocked me. I may have expected it from the Tories, but a Labour council? So they can't afford to house people because of the cuts (and, of course, because social housing is being sold off and not replaced). Oxford City Council's answer is to prosecute and fine them? And you're still deflecting any blame from Labour?

You know, I'm always happy to speak out when the Tories do something despicable. But Labour supporters seem to be so blinkered, they'll try to justify anything they do.

I can debate anything I like if it relates to the context of the thread, which funding undoubtedly does.

Look at the date of the act, it's quite significant in your 'what did they do?' they didn't criminalise being homeless for a start.

Note how the notice is to nobody of nowhere...Is this enforceable?
