Mangalore, April 27:

After receiving pounds from ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ reality show, a controversial kiss from Richard Gere and tonnes of publicity, Shilpa Shetty turned to her hometown to thank the gods.

Shilpa called her visit a ‘pilgrimage tour’ rather than a holiday as she was at her maternal ancestral house at Niddodi near Kateel to watch ‘Bhoota Kola’ (worshipping dieties, believed by the family).

Shilpa who was in the district for the last three days and spent the entire Tuesday night watching ‘Jarandaya Kola’ along with her mother Sunanda, actress sister Shamitha and other members of the family.

Shilpa told reporters that she had planned to hold ‘Jarandaya Kola’ about four months ago before she left for London to participate in the ‘Big Brother Show’.

‘‘Niddodi is a sacred as it is believed to be the original place where ‘Jarandaya Daiva’ (the spirit) existed,’’she added.
