Dilemma here - I don't know if I should choose Physics or Biology for A Level. Career wise, I'd want to do medicine and become a doctor (maybe in neurology? I don't know) so biology would seem like the obvious option, but the University I want to attend says I need AAA in Maths, Chemistry, and another science (no precious then) - so I don't need Biology
My issue is, I hated GCSE Biology, besides when we did the human body. I don't think I could handle learning about plants for a year or two, especially when I doubt that would benefit me in a career in medicine? I liked GCSE Physics though, and I do enjoy maths, and I feel like it would open up more doors for me whilst also giving me a pathway to medicine. However, I did struggle a lot towards the harder content, which I would be expanding on at A Level, and they say Physics is (if not the hardest) one of the hardest A Levels. So I'm just asking, what would people feel would be a better choice? Obviously every person is different, but it'd be interesting to hear if anyone here did Physics or Biology or both at A Level and why |

A Level Physics is really hard and you might not do well. A Level Biology is much easier to get to grips with in my opinion and so even though it may be a 'bit boring' you stand a better chance of coming out with good grades in it. Personally I think Physics is really boring and Biology interesting but each to their own.

Tough one but if you want do do medicine I would say biology, that said it's easier to study a subject you enjoy even if it is the harder option

I'm not the best at Science but I think Biology is so much more easier than Physics

I didn't expect so many responses in such little time
thank you all. I think I will go for Biology, I think it's just hearing people say Biology is better that made me realise it's better to choose the easier yet maybe more boring Biology than risk getting a B or below in PhysicsIt was applying it to different situations which I hated at GCSE but I got the hang of it and my memory is great so I think Biology would be the easier choiceQuote:
mainly because Physics grade boundaries are so lowQuote:

Biology is meant to be disgustingly difficult, one of my girls got an A at GCSE in it but got a U on Thursday in her AS

At my college Law, Maths and Biology are meant to be the hardest A-Levels (as talked about by students and teachers) and the ones with lower pass rates.

I wouldn't say physics is hard if you're decent at maths and can handle equations / are a logical thinker...
However, for any medical subject having biology will make your first and second year a LOT easier. So I'd go bio. |

I can't find any pass rates for the college I'm going to but about half the people who go there study Maths

Physics definitely won't benefit you any more than Biology would. I'd always go with Bio.

I'd go for Biology too, all the people I know who did Medicine did Biology A-Level it's definitely more useful. It is harder bc you actually have to know concepts rather than just memorize the textbook like at GCSE but all A-Levels are like that and if I managed to get an A I'm sure you can too
Also Maths A-Level is Satan's work, I only did it for AS and dropped it immediately after I got a D
