I would like to go away next year by myself as I don’t really have many friends that would come and it’s so much hassle organising it all.
Is it weird? I honestly don’t mind the thought of it, sitting by the pool/beach on my own. I normally get lunch on my own when I go with family so eating alone wouldn’t be a problem. Although I think I’d have dinner/tea in the room at night. And maybe perch a quick drink in a bar or something at the hotel. And since about 14 I’ve had my own room on family holidays so I do spend a lot of my time alone on holiday, and I much prefer it to tell the truth. I guess you could say I’m a bit of loner lmao. I do get on with most people though and I think most people tend to like me. It’s obviously more expensive to go by myself but I’ll have to save my pennies. I plan to go to a hotel that I went to a couple of times when I was younger with my family in Dubai, so at least I know where most of the facilities are and what the hotel is like. I think it would be quite daunting going somewhere completely new for my first time abroad alone. I’ve been through an airport on my own when I went to Jordan as I met my godmother on the plane as she is a flight attendant, so I wouldn’t be nervous to do that. Not really, it's seen as "the norm" for students to go abroad backpacking alone so it's not that much of a stretch to just do this alone.

Nope, if you're happy in your own company (as I am a lot of the time) then do it. It's not for everyone but if it is for you then why not?
All these 'is it weird to do x on your own' things are only perceived to be weird because not many people do so...for fear of being seen as weird. That's all. |

I’ve never really found going away with a group of friends very appealing. |

Not at all , a friend of mine went to China on her own and had a fab time , you get to talk to others when you are a solo traveller, go for it and enjoy - where ever you decide to go.

I definitely don’t think so. If you enjoy you’re own company then it will be great experiencing something so fantastic by yourself. I travel by myself quite a lot and love it. Been to London countless times, Nottingham, Bath, Southampton, Birmingham, And wouldn’t have it any other way. When I was in New York I spent a few hours by myself in a certain area while my family went elsewhere and it was refreshing. Holidaying with other people can be quite stressful, so to have that time to myself was nice. I travel to places with friend too, but there’s something really empowering and lovely about being a maverick and doing your own thing with no barriers.
Next step is going abroad by myself, but like you say, gotta save those pennies...You should also read this article: https://amp.theguardian.com/commenti...sheikh-holiday |

I don't think it's weird at all but I wouldn't go on holiday alone personally.

Don't know if I could do it as I think it'd get lonely, but I don't see why it would be a problem
