Default Celeb clothing lines

Celebs should as Kate Moss, Madonna and Lily Allen have brought out their own line of clothes..what are your views on this? Is it making it ten times harder for kids who want to grow up and be a fashion designer if these celebs are all getting in on the trend? Is wearing these clothes taking away childrens individuality? Do we want to see 10 Lily Allen lookalikes walking down the street? Does/would anyone here wear any celeb designed clothes? There are many true designers out there who work really hard creating new things with a passion and now "celeb designed" clothes which are produced behind the scenes and just carry that celeb name. Where does your money go? -On celeb designed clothes or on real fashion designers clothes?

my daughter has some rock and republic jeans which I have to say are very nice but of no better quality than any other pair of jeans.

I think you can look individual in the clothes if you put youre own spin on them, like take one item and mix it with other pieces and accessorize. I'm definately going to check out the Kate Moss range at Topshop, I want the super tight skinny jeans with the zip at the bottom! I think some people are going to look like clones though this summer, everyone will be wearing the same dress! I'd rather be more individual, I like my clothes to stand out so I won't be buying too much.

It's another money making exercise and another example of how having a name that people have heard of means endless opportuinities these day. I keep seeing that the stars actually contributed toward their own designs. Don't make me larf.

I'm surprised Kate Moss could keep it together long enough to turn up to the opening of her range.

I agree - there's no way they've had input into the designing. Someone else has done the hard work, and they've just put their name to it. It's the same with most 'celebrity' lines, whether it's make up, clothing or skincare. I certainly wouldn't buy something just because Kate Moss or Lilly Allen had their name somewhere on the label.

Had to laugh a lilly allen. She reckons she has done it to give girls confidence to be individuals. Yes, you can now be an individual carbon copy of someone who can not be truthful about the fact that she did it for the money. I have no problem with her doing it for the money, just don't dress it up as some sort of crusade.

I say why not. People buy celeb perfume, so why not clothing
Nothing wrong with it.

I don't buy clothes because of the label. I buy them because I like them. So, to be honest, I don't care who designed them. If I like it, and it's on sale then I buy it.

I don't think they are taking anything away from the real designers. They are merely providing work for the designers who couldn't quite make it on their own. Even if they don't get to put their name to it, they still get paid don't they?

A lot of celebrities are getting involved in lucrative money making ventures and clothes and fashion is one of them.

Many fans do enjoy wearing something which has a name attached to it, whether a celebrity or just a brand name.

I went to Selfridges recently in London and I got great pleasure in laughing at some of the prices of clothing with special designer labels.

I saw one rail, with dresses at Ł1000+ minimum price. There was about 30 I think on the rail, that is Ł30,000+ for a bit of material and a name.

The funniest part, is, people pay these prices and all I can say personally, is, "Let the fools do it!!!"

I buy mine at cheap prices, affordable!!

Yeah some clothes out there are at silly prices. I can't believe people "camp out" all night and cue for certain ranges it is stupid. I think if something looks nice and is reasonably priced then most people buy it. If something is expensive they might treat themselves to it but certainly get their wear out of it for the price.

I know, GlitterEyes.

But many rich and famous people just can't resist paying for these expensive designer labels and don't even worry about the price either.

They are quite content to wear something which has been made by a famous designer and has a price to match.

The one thing which does annoy many parents, who are not rich at all, is, when their children go to school, and their friends are wearing a Ł120 pair of trainers and your son or daughter says, "Mum, Dad, I wan't those trainers that my friend has".

From a kids point of view I can understand they want to look "cool" and "fit in" but sadly many kids want things just because others have them. They don't "need" them so to speak and their actual views on things are tainted by what is in at the time.

from the perspective of a parent who happily buys these things for my kids I have to say its about choice really and also on a practical level what you ca afford. I get sick of being told my daughter should not wear designer labels or expensive trainers just because others cant afford them. Well I actually can afford them and like to provide things for my kids that is within my means to do so. I wouldnt go into debt for them but I equally like them to look their best.

Saying all of that my youngest is a bargain hunter at heart and will often find a shirt she likes for a couple of quid and as she has so much style makes it look awesome!! I just get her what she likes really

AHH Sunny, I hope they appreciate what you do for them? Lots of kids don't sadly

I know that wearing a pair of trainers which costs over a Ł100 is nice to have and wear, but I just think it is a waste of money.

It is true that every parent, normally wants the best for their children and if they really want an expensive item of clothing, or footwear, then, if you can afford it, then it is a fair choice to buy it for them.

But many children don't really see Ł100+ for a pair of trainers or a nice dress as being a lot of money and some children won't understand the difference between a Ł15 pair of decent trainers from the local high-street shoe shop.

But, as kids & trainers go hand in hand and I am happy with a cheaper pair, "How can I judge?"

I understand that you might think it a waste of money to buy trainers at over one hundred pound a pair, I might even agree with you, but I like my girls to have nice things and I also like them to have the things that they like (within reason)

I just dont like to be seen as being "bad" for choosing to spend money that "I" earn and work hard for on my kids. They are only young once and if they can be cool along the way then I am happy for them.

Now you have said that, it's "sod's law" that they will take a liberty in a very short while

I always say that Sunny, when you say everything is okay, things go wrong

It's a mad world sometimes

But I understand that you do spend a fair amount on your children and I am sure you are a great mum too

I am sure they love you

I dont spend huge amounts on myself I like and I mean really like to buy things for my kids, what mum doesnt! I am always on the look out for something cool that will make them smile and that doesnt always mean spending a lot of money!

The one good thing is my girls know how hard I work, are not demanding, and are truly grateful for the things I buy for them, the first time they behaved like brats would be the last believe me!!!
