Default I\'m Gone.... I need your help.

One of my TiBB friends, Remy or sunshine30 as you may no him, has had a heated debate with me over language barrier difficulites.

He said:

i"m gone in an italian college

I told him that its incorrect, and you say either:

i've gone to an italian college (or) i've been to an italian college.

He still thinks he is right which is understandable as he is French, but as he uses TiBB i would like you all to reply saying that you can't say "I'm Gone" and say its right, so he would understand where he went wrong.

Much appreciated, thanks.

Doesnt really help though, the problem lies in the fact, that in france, the past tense, you say " I am gone" or " Je suis alle" so hes literally translated.

I sort out problems quickly, so arguments don't happen.

It's time for things to stay peaceful

I understand what you say Sam

But sometimes you have to look at the problem that you have and just agree to disagree.

If one member thinks that they are definitely right and so does the other, then it is very hard to come to an agreement.

Just accept the situation, shake hands, make up and debate about something different.

If the link I gave didn't help, just type in the Google search, "Language translater" and see what you can find. I am sure it will give you the answer.

by the way, i asked one of my english exchange, charlie, he lives in london and said to me it's absolutely english to say "i'm gone", so end of discussion coz it's getting ridiculous.
so maybe english language is different, it depends of the cities.

Language translators are never 100% accurate. I only posted to try to help, i thought maybe seeing a range of opinions might help the situation , but obviously didnt

i just want to precise that i don't need a translator to speak in english, and i know what the translators say and how they translate the words.

A lot of people say that the English language is one of the hardest languages to understand?

It is easy when you were born here and only understand English.

I know that Remy is well versed in quite a few languages, and that takes somebody with a real good memory indeed!

That's me out the way

My memory is terrible

Anyway, if anybody is struggling to find the answer on a language translater, then just leave it, or find someone else who speaks the language fluently and can tell you whether it is true or not.

It is a very small problem, isn't it

I'd say it's probably a good idea to lock this thread. Glad you guys have sorted it out though, and Remy, your English is better than some of the English people who post here..
