You'll never see anything rated higher than a 12A released on the Disney Brand but they do own other studios that release less Disney friendly content. I don't think ownership of Sky Atlantic or Sky News would hurt them. |

Apparently they want to keep Deadpool as is, I've heard that the heads of Marvel and Disney are looking into creating an specific branding for the R-Rated superhero films.

I think basically, similar to gaming, the "blockbuster loving generations" now contain a lot of adults who are keen to see films made FOR adults in the cinema... it's seen as a marketing tool in many cases rather than how it was being viewed at one point (as an audience barrier). Disney have been slowly edging this way for a while really, it's definitely not all animated bunnies even at this point, it makes sense as the next step in evolving into having all sorts of media and target audiences catered to. |

The R rating (in the US) does reduce box office though, like with Blade Runner 2049 this year. Generally the budgets given to them are lower, because the audience that can see them is more limited. A lot of adults don't have time to go to the cinema, unless it is to take their children to a family-friendly film, hence children's animations being such a big deal now for film-companies.
Sometimes you get a breakout horror film that does well, and also R-rated comedies can do well. |

Now a 2nd bid, after Disney , is in for BSkyB Sky Shares have gone up , of course [Comcast said its possible all-cash offer of £12.50 per Sky share represented a premium of 16% on the current Fox terms, which value Sky at £18.5bn.] |

Comcast 65 Billion dollars,
now its up to Disney to go above that or pull out. [The cable giant says its cash bid - of $35 per share - for most of Fox's assets is 19% higher than the value of Disney's offer.] SkyNews married to NBC news maybe, (ref: CNN Money HD) [The move follows a previous bid being rebuffed last year. Wednesday's announcement comes a day after a US federal judge cleared AT&T's $85bn takeover of Time Warner. The judge rejected the government's argument the takeover would hurt competition in cable and satellite TV and increase costs to consumers for streaming TV and movies.] https://news.sky.com/story/comcast-6...r-fox-11404074 Sign Of The Times Last edited by arista; 20-06-2018 at 08:25 PM. |

Sooooo... does this mean that Fox News will go liberal? No? Is that how it works with parent companies? I have no clue. I'm no expert on building massive media empires... sorry
