I think this is absolutely disgusting and all of the vitriol that leading Corbynistas are spouting out of the party is gross. It's actually making me ashamed to say I support Labour in fear I get grouped in with them. |

I also supported Liz Kendall & Andy Burnham then Owen Smith in the two leadership elections so I know how much my vote was wasted

It is a stupid thing to say. Though its actually quite a common mindset. 'You're a male, you dont understand feminism' 'you're straight, you don't understand lgbt-discrimination' 'you're wealthy, you dont understand being broke' 'you're poor, you dont understand taxes' etc etc.
I think a lot of people who are emotionally invested in subjects are too ready to disregard an opinion of others if they know they don't share that same emotional attachment.

We saw this comment thrown at Theresa May when she was running for leader of Tories by Andrea Leadsom.

No I know I'm just saying this mindset is well and alive with it being used multiple times on Theresa May.

A stupid thing to say, you don't need to be a parent to understand child abuse. We do not know Theresa May's life, it's a sad possibility that she could understand child abuse more than most parents. We never know.

Hmm. On the surface it's a stupid thing to say, but I'm gonna try to rationalise it anyway.
I work in a school, and relations with parents are important because if a parent doesn't like an adult who's looking after their kid, they won't be happy. I always knew that, but it was as an "abstract", if that makes sense, there was nothing attached to it. But then one time I took my nephew to Beavers, and I realised I had gone to school with one of the leaders. I did not like him, and I didn't like the thought of him looking after my nephew. I wasn't accusing him of anything, I don't think he'd hurt him in any way, just part of my mind was like NO. My point is, sure, you don't need to have children to really understand child abuse, but it does add another "layer" to it. Last edited by Oliver_W; 16-02-2018 at 10:52 AM. |

So what if you have no children but you were abused as a child ?.
I'm tired of people trying to tell others what they can & can't feel. |

I would honestly say that's its true that people without kids can't understand general life as a parent... But I don't think child abuse (surely) has anything to do with most people's parenting experiences? Why would a parwnt without experi be of abuse understand abuse more than anyone else?

If you have an adblock, going on their site will go against them, as their page views:visible ads ratios will drop, so they'll get less money per ad.
