ELLA HENDERSON has been dropped by Syco, I can reveal.

The X Factor contestant, who finished sixth in 2012, was tipped for great things after her debut single Ghost shot straight to No1.

The track sold more than 1.2million units here and more than a million in the US, while her debut album Chapter One went platinum. But four years on, the party is over.

A spokesman for the record label confirmed Ella’s exit, saying: “Syco and Ella Henderson are parting company.

“We wish Ella all the best for the future and thank her for her hugely successful contribution over the years.”

My sources say bosses lost faith in Ella as her follow-up album hit delay after delay.

One told me: “Ella has been an incredible talent for Syco. But it was felt by everyone it was time for a change of direction.

“It is four years since she released her last album and it has been so stop-start since then.

“A new beginning seemed the best option for everyone.” A second source added: “Syco bosses were delighted with Ella when she first joined the label.

“But since 2014 things have been going downhill.

“Her second album has been pushed back again and again but it just isn’t up to scratch.

“Meetings have taken place to discuss her future . . . and the result was to let her go.”

It’s a huge blow for Ella, who was once tipped to be one of the show’s biggest products.

I hear other stars signed to Syco, set up by Simon Cowell are also nervously looking over their shoulders

The source said: “There is something of a spring clean going on at the moment, with bosses taking a good look at all of their current artists.

“Every year they take stock and make sure everyone is where they want to be.

“However, this year there have been rumours other artists may be reconsidered, so there are some very nervous people around at the moment.”

LM & OD only had one album with Syco before moving to Columbia and with Leona, I guess her second album was kind of successful, but it was so piss poorly managed that it got about 10% of the success it could have had

I’m actually shocked. Her first album was successful here, had a #1 single and went platinum. It even charted at #11 on the billboard 200 which is great for a debut british album. She’ll get signed again
