["I used to pay £65 or £75 for 1kg of vanilla pods. Now the supplier wants £580, so vanilla has just had to go."]
[Around 85 per cent of the world's supply of vanilla pods comes from Madagascar, an island off eastern Africa. But natural disasters including last year's Cyclone Enawo have wiped out a third of the annual crop, sending prices soaring. This high demand and low production is expected to spell disaster for ice cream lovers in the UK as summer approaches.] Its all because of the Extreme weather last year in Madagascar https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/95...summer-weather I bet all the frozen stuff in Supermarkets was well before the Price increase. |
