I'm still in shock and i still feel sad about it. She looked ever so happy on social media so it makes you think is anyone really that happy as they show us so we should always make sure they are ok.

Sarah Goodhart (Ex on the Beach 3, Geordie Shore 14), Selina Waterman-Smith (The Apprentice 11), Jasmine Lennard (Celebrity Big Brother 10), Fran Parman (The Only Way Is Essex) and some other reality stars are apparently going to make a group for any reality TV contestants seeking a support network after their shows

In August 2017 Sarah Goodhart actually made a video hitting out at her Ex on the Beach and Geordie Shore producers saying one day reality TV producers were going to push someone too far and Sophie actually commented on it saying Sarah was right and that the Love Island producers had treated her terribly

It definitely seems to be a common trend that the aftercare on reality TV really isn't good enough, has been like that for about a decade too

Something needs to change, I can't get over how sad and shocking this is

It’s horrific that Big Brother contestants were saying this in Narinder’s book in 2007 and 11 years later a reality TV contestant has killed herself because of it.

Not surprising. The producers are quite lucky that nothing has happened.

Also, I really think this should put into perspective that it's JUST a TV show*, and the things that happen on it aren't all that serious - and that we don't really know these people. The Big Brother fandom in particular are the worst for their obsessive hatred of housemates, vitriol, stalking their old social media posts, trolling them post-show, etc etc.

I get that there's a legitimate argument to be said for "they know what they signed up for" but I think it's time people reigned in it a little. It must be really daunting to leave a reality show and have everything you've ever done, said or will continue to, picked apart constantly. I'm dumfounded by some of the stuff I read in the community sometimes...I'm like...it's not that deep.

This should be a reminder that these people are still human beings that have feelings.

*the paradox of course being that for the contestants, it's very much real life

Didn't something like 4 or 5 housemates suffer with severe depression and attempt suicide within a year of the show ending? Iirc Heaven was one of them but none of the others were named.

True. She acknowledged her mental issues all throughout the process, she shares the same responsibility and blame as the production for participating.

I saw somewhere that one was Heaven Afrika but it's been years since I read that article so I'm not sure if I got wires crossed.
