Thumbs up Put out water for birds

Get a shalllow bowl and fill it with water and put it out for the birds to bathe nd drink as this prolonged dry spell is hard for the birds.

Our birdbath is awash with birds drinking and bathing all day long.

Go do it now and keep it full up, not too deep just a few inches tops

I had to put sugar water out for 4 bees this weekend, the birds are all over my feeders as they are struggling to get anything out of the ground. Will put some water out now, didnt even think about that, thanks LT

Nothing you can do Kaz, cats are predators and so will hunt. Mine are the same, I hate them a little bit with each kill but it nature.

It's horrible AnnieK,I heard one squarking in the garden yesterday,I rushed out and the cat had it on the floor,I shooed her off ,the bird was still alive ,I got the cat in and made sure she couldn't get out again, I picked it up and stroked it,tried to calm it down,I placed it under a shady bush, hoping it would just fly off,but sadly I went out two hours later and it had died, I do get the cat in every night, but it's worse as we have a lot of trees around us,but I know it's nature but I hate the killing and if ever she gets the two robins that visit, she will be evicted.

I have, and they make special BIBS apparently mostly used in the States
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Small-Cat-B.../dp/B004TW6OZA, not sure if they work ,might try one.

Or this might be better

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Liberator-A...productDetails

Has anyone used any of these ?

Interesting, Kaz. Some people praise the products, some don't. Hard to tell...

LT

I bought a cat litter tray and filled that with water for birds on saturday. Thankfully there aren't many cats around here and my dog doesn't care if birds are in the garden so there are always birds swimming or drinking in the garden

Was going to mention seagulls when I first saw this thread. They're a real nuisance at this time of year. People are advised not to encourage them by feeding them.
