The Guardian quoting Sadiq Khan ... that pretty much tells us all we need to know about this story!

Forgive me, Parmy for reproducing the article from your link but it is necessary to quote from it to illustrate just how adept this useless **** is at stating the bleedin' obvious and deflecting from the real issues.
My comments are in bold: Sadiq Khan says he has seen evidence linking cocaine consumption and rising violence in London. ![]() London’s mayor said recreational drug use was not a “victimless crime” and he had seen evidence from authorities of a clear link between cocaine consumption and rising violence in the capital. Wow - Soooo profound. Seeing as how even the village idiot in 'Much-Chewing-Of-The Cud' KNOWS that the vast profits from illegal drugs are the raison d'etre of London gangs, the link between cocaine consumption and gang violence does not demand any euphoric crying out of 'EUREKA'. Khan called for action to be taken against people who buy the drug at “middle-class parties”, alongside a crackdown on gang members. There are long-standing existing laws against the buying and selling of cocaine so why is it only now that this dick-head is calling for action to be taken against buyers and sellers? Is this an admission that for decades successive Governments, Police, and Judiciary have NOT done the job they have all been getting paid to do with the tax-payers money? Answers on a postcard please to: 'Disgruntled of Tunbridge Wells'. The mayor, answering questions on his LBC radio phone-in show, said: “There is a definite link, which has been shown to me by the police, of drugs and criminal gangs and knife crime and crime going up.” No shet, Sherlock. He continued: “We have got to make sure we take action among those young people who are involved in criminal gangs as well as those who are buying them at middle-class parties. No shet, Sherlock. “There are some Londoners who think it is a victimless crime, taking cocaine at ‘middle-class parties’. We need to make sure Londoners realise there is no such thing as a victimless crime.” No shet, Sherlock He added: “Some of the young people being knifed on our streets in London, some of the young people losing their lives is because they are involved in criminal gangs who are lower down the food chain in relation to drugs.” ![]() The mayor’s comments came after the justice secretary, David Gauke, said in May that middle-class people who take cocaine “should feel a degree of guilt and responsibility” when they see stories of teenagers being murdered in Hackney, east London. Nice deflection - switch the emphasis away from the increasingly violent gangs who have GROWN in both numbers and audacity due to successive authorities who have avoided dealing with them due to Political Correctness. ALL that David Gauke omitted from the phrase 'Middle-Class People' was the word 'WHITE'. . Khan, who campaigned for a remain vote in the EU referendum, said Brexit could make tackling the illegal drug trade trade more difficult. “The drugs come from overseas and the idea that we will be more effective at fighting crime by leaving the EU – by not having the security arrangements with the EU – is ridiculous,” he said. ![]() In May, Simon Kempton, who leads on drug policy for the Police Federation, also said middle-class drug users were to blame for the drug trade and related violence. Speaking at the federation’s conference in Birmingham, he said: “‘The only reason gangs are into drugs is because people want to buy them, and a big part of that is not street-level users. Street-level users are a problem because they steal to fund their habit but on their own they will not support an organised crime group. “The big market is people with money to spend and they are often oblivious to the misery they cause because it is not on their doorstep. Middle-class drug users do not come across the radar of police because they are consuming it behind closed doors.” No shet, Sherlock? Even the village idiot in 'Much-Chewing-Of-The Cud' KNOWS that Judges, Barristers, Politicians, Pop Stars, Top Businessmen, and other 'Celebrities' love their charlie but seeing as - by your own admission - it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to catch and prosecute such users because they are 'doing it behind closed doors' and do not 'come on to the police radar', why don't you START to throw ALL your weight and devote ALL your considerable resources into actually CATCHING and PROSECUTING these violent gang members who have such a sneering contempt for the law and order of this country? Has it not occurred to you, that when it is impossible to stop the demand or the consumer from consuming, then the ONLY alternative is to stop the ****ing SUPPLY? It's EASY - most of the gangs are KNOWN to you and all you have to do is grow some ****ing testicles and to hell with PC. Oh... But make sure to the best of your ability if you do start to arrest these scumbags, that the prosecution team and judge are not Charlie-Fans. Rant over - for now.

I knew the tax-paying middle-class would be to blame. Damn them for the 40% of their earnings they pay to the government.... can't they see what they're doing?

It seems an obvious point to make that if you take drugs, especially cocaine, you are encouraging drug gangs and violence, not just in this country but around the world eg. South and Central America.

Well drug use in the US definitely fuels violence in Mexico.
I guess if drug use went away in London, the gangs would turn to something else. |

I know people high up in the civil service and in the legal profession who take cocaine. They use it without abusing it and are high-functioning professionals. I'm all for legalising drugs and take the power off the criminals. |

The other point here is that it is not just middle class people who use cocaine, so do upper and working class so pointing to one section of society is pretty stupid on his part
