Default If Big Brother TRULY returned to its classic form...

So if Channel 4 bought it back and Davina was on board do you think it would be more successful? Personally I think it would be, I would think Civillian could get around 3 million viewers

Emma is a biased **** who can't interview properly and doesn't ask the hard hitting questions like Davina did.

They are getting it right atm for youth orientated TV (I.e. itv 2) so I think they could hit the nail on the head with the right marketing

But Big Brother was deemed as a programme for all adults not the youth

If they went back to the original format, I think it could be sucessful. By that I mean stop all of the producer meddling, and just basically lock a bunch of normal people in a house for weeks and watch them. I think after bb4 was a bit crap, the producers shat themselves and purposely started hunting for nutters rather than normal people. And then since the move to c5, it seems pretty much only people with agents get in

Yup, Davina was quite horrendous for this. I remember the way she treat Makosi I think though, if the presenter watches the show then they are going to be a bit biased, and I would prefer a presenter who is actually passionate about the show who was biased, than someone who did not watch the show and was only there for the paycheck who you could tell had no passion at all for the show.

I remember Big Brother 11 as being some of the most tedious television I have ever witnessed. At least when Channel 5 made a mess of the show you could sometimes get a good laugh from the stupidity of it all, e.g. the ridiculous timebomb machine.

BB5 and 6 are brilliant though. Also I can't imagine the applicants c5 actually get are the best so I can kind of understand why they feel it necessary to outsource by contacting agents, although I do think it's a very lazy method. Scouting in my opinion is the best way to find good applicants.

Imo people need to accept that bb reached its peek in terms of relevancy ages ago. it will never get the attention it suet get, however it can survive if producers acknowledge that there is a decent fanbase and focus on keeping those viewers. Because where c5 went wrong imo was always trying to get the casual viewers back and alienating those who have stuck with the show forever until eventually even they gave up.

Also I would really like to know what it was about secrets and lies that pulled in such a good audience. It was a good series but so was 13 and 17

I understand they're gonna be a bit bias but surly they should 1) understand that its just a tv show and its not that serious and 2) know that they dislike this housemate and make an effort to not make it obvious

if louis theroux can stand and chit chat in a kitchen with a neo nazi Davina can interview someone who lied about being pregnant without being a bitch

It was surely the initial marketing of the series that helped out a lot, I would imagine.

As only a casual viewer myself, the 'Big Brother' brand felt clearer and more considered in this year. The small things felt different: the graphics, the house, the eye... and of course, Emma coming in as the main presenter made a huge difference.

The contestants was also pretty interesting.

In all, I'd say that Secret and Lies felt like Channel 5's most 'classic' attempt at Big Brother.
