Read this recently, brilliant book. Set in the same world as His Dark Materials trilogy (Golden Compass), this is about ten years before Lyra's time focusing on a new protagonist called Malcolm.
I really liked the first book in this new trilogy (La Belle Sauvage). There's some great world building there - I wanna go for a pint in the Trout, help Sister Fenella in her kitchen, and then chat with Dr Relf about books
It's just a shame that the next one apparently won't follow this storyline, instead featuring
