What makes me laugh is these stereotypes who claim to be different but dress the same/like the same stuff.

I do know what they are, but when it comes to describing them, it can be difficult to put it into words! Taken from Wikipedia - hope it helps:
Emo is a somewhat ambiguous slang term most frequently used to describe a fashion or subculture derived from hardcore punk fashion and its subculture. The slang term emo is best known for its fashion style and attitude. Emo may describe this fashion or music, or a general emotive state (as in to "feel emo"). It is also, sometimes pejoratively, used to identify someone fitting a particular emo stereotype or category. Chav or Charv/Charver even Chavster (male) and Chavette (female) ('ch' pronounced as in chair) is a mainly derogatory slang term in the United Kingdom for a subcultural stereotype fixated on fashions derived from American Hip-Hop (African-American) and Guido (Italian-American) fashions and stereotypes such as gold jewellery and designer clothing combined with elements of working class British street fashion. Chavs are generally considered to have no respect for society, and to be ignorant or unintelligent. The defining features of the chav clothing in the Burberry pattern (notably a now-discontinued baseball cap) and from a variety of other casual and sportswear brands. Tracksuits, hoodies, sweatpants and baseball caps are particularly associated with this stereotype. Response to the term has ranged from amusement to criticism that it is a new manifestation of classism. The term has also been associated with delinquency, the "ASBO Generation", "Hoodie culture" and "yob culture". |

I hate how people are given a label. But what I hate more is how people ASPIRE to be a label. Wtf is a "goth" or a "emo"... I know what they're meant to be in popular culture but it's just a goddamned word. People can't be them...
Edit: Actually, top pet hate with labels is when people describe someone as being an "indie"... indie just means independent music label. So when you're calling someone an indie, you're saying they're a music label? Right... normal. Also, "mosher"... that just means someone whom knocks against another person whilst at a rock concert... er so how come everyone wearing black with long hair are given this sodding label? |

And to make my reply on-topic, hmm... what more can I say. Might as well include another "indie" rant. Also, when people say they listen to indie music - - they misunderstand the whole genre. Surprise, indie music isn't all music with guitars and men with longish hair and leather jackets singing it. Indie means music on an independent music label, they discounts 90% of the usual bands that are listed under the indie genre. |

Its completly stupid, ill never understand people who bully others becuase of their appearance.
In London we dont get none of that nonsense attitude. Youd get mugged for what you got, not for what your wearing. |

I listen to indie music, whether it is rock, pop or something else, indie music is my genre. That doesn't mean I’m stupid because I refer to it as indie, the word is used for simplicity and for me includes subcultures in the genre. Indie rock is now becoming more main stream, so of course people are going to refer to it as just indie music, and they wouldn’t be wrong in saying that either. |

Skinny jeans and 'jelled' hair does not represent any genre, never mind indie music, but represents the person's individuality and preference. |

I think he meant it doesn't show individuality because everyone is doing it.
