Default 150,000 Applications for BB3!

Article from today's Ananova:

Big Brother applications double from second series

Channel 4 has received around 150,000 applications for the third series of Big Brother. The figure is double the number of people who applied to be in last year's series.

Channel 4 has taken on extra staff to process the huge number of applicants.

The station's director of programmes, Tim Gardam, has refused to give details of changes to the show, but said: "It's going to be a bit different.

"We do have a problem with it at the moment because at the last count the number of applicants was 150,000 - double last year.

"We've hired extra people to wade through them all. We've had to hire an extra van to bring in all the audition tapes. It will be a huge lottery as to who gets in."

The new series is expected to be broadcast in the summer.

Overseas versions of the show have seen the Big Brother house split into two, but Mr Gardam said Channel 4 was not planning to follow foreign formats.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I don't envy them having to wade through that lot!

Interesting that they're yet again denying that the new house will be split in two, whereas Davina apparently said on Capital Radio that it would be split into two sections - one nice and one not-so nice.

They're certainly keeping us guessing!

I suppose it will make it even more difficult, an embarrasment of choice indeed. However, I think you could probably pick ten people out of a hundred, and it would be just fascinating, and maybe even more entertaining.

Not too many 'characters' please. They are often scene hogging as well as screen stealing. I like to watch nice ordinary folk, who I can relate to. Just like everyone who posts here!

Sticks - it says May 25th, not March 25th as the start date for BB3! You had me going there for a moment!

Going back to the person on Stuarts board. They have been invited to a regional interview on 13th. March.

CLICK HERE to read article in today's Sun Online.

I have to say that, aside from being a Scot, the England/Argentina game holds no particular fascination for me, so I'll definitely be glued to the first eviction!

Similarly, as far as I'm concerned, I don't think the programme 'Inside Labour' will provide any competition to BB3.

Interesting to hear about an 'Upstairs Downstairs' version of Big Brother - I haven't heard that mentioned anywhere else - have any of you?

Being a footie fanatic, I'm going to be really upset on eviction night cos i'll have to miss the game!!!!!!!

Nothing will stop me watching Big Brother

Don't know about upstairs downstairs, it might work. I can't understand why they want to change a successful format though!

If it aint broke, don't fix it!

There's also a thing in today's Star. I've written more about in the BB2 thread, because it talks about it. There's a link to an abridged version of the story here, but as I've explained, there are better photos in the printed version!

Like Kaz, I'm not that bothered about the World Cup, however I do live in London, so know it will be hard to avoid. I'm rather hoping BB will provide a welcome distraction, and possibly some competition in the tabloids' efforts to give us non-newsworthy headlines.

Even though I will be watching Big Brother on the night of the England match, they have got BIG competition! We are talking the World Cup here, however, it is only a re-run so its not the real thin!
I cant believe they have 150'000 ppl, that is so good, they have got a job on their hands to try and find 10 people! Good Luck to them!!!

Now i'm going to be torn. I absolutely love David Beckham, so therefore I do have to watch the footie. In recent years the first eviction has always been a bit boring, so i'll give it a miss!!

I think I might watch the football actually cause World Cup only comes around like every 6 years or something, doesnt it and its never the same not live!
I agree with chilledbootz, the first eviction is always a bit odd cause you dont know the contestants that well anyway! I will record it and watch it straight after. I cant believe Im planning my tv for May already - how funny?!!

Welcome to the forum, angie!

Congratulations on getting through to the audition stage.

Hopefully you can keep us updated on your progress without giving anything too crucial away that might jeopardise you getting on BB3.

Good luck!

Default Hi Everyone

Thanks for the welcome.
All I can say about the auditons is it was full of people with loads of adrenalin. Most of us were very confident people. It was quite strange actually, everyone was talking to each other like we had known each other for years. It was basically people trying to grab there attention and silly games.

Yes, congratulations angie.
It would be really good if a site member could get through to the final ten.
Imagine afterwards all the goss about what it's really like in the house. We could quiz the person for weeks.
Discolady, have you got all your blank tapes ready?
Only six weeks to go

Default hi

I bet you anything if I or anyone else got through Endemol would not allow us to talk on this or any other site. Anway your agent would want you to talk to the mags to make loads of money. Helen apparently made £100000 talking to mags about her relationship with Paul. I met her last year at the auditions and before that Craig (although not at the auditions).
