The world does seem to have lost it's humour and its not only because comedians are frightened of upsetting people (which is actually closer to the truth than political correctness) because people will just not deem anything as funny unless it is in the form of trite stupidity, which Gervais pedals all the time.

The idea that Frankie Boyle is a "comedian" is actually the funniest thing I've read in ages.

Tbf, Alf, literally none of the videos that you shared were funny, so I think that makes it 1-0 to political correctness (even though I dont see the connection, there are far more politically incorrect shows doing well on TV atm).

The funny thing is though is that it's actually been people on right who have in the past wanted to clamp down on/ban "offensive" jokes in some people's routines. When Frankie Boyle was making jokes about the Queen's pussy and Harvey Price, the Mail went into meltdown and IIRC most of the right-wingers on this forum weren't impressed either

This narrative that lefties want to shut down or ruin comedy is actually false, especially when you consider that most comedians are on the left themselves lol

I just made the thread as a gateway to post a Benny Hill clip because I thought it to be a very funny clip that nobody on here will have probably seen before, and to post it without building up a bit, it would probably got ignored, so I put a story around it, a story that does hold some truth.

I then decided to post a few other clips. My aim was to show how making comedy using subject matters that as a society we're afraid to talk about today, because someone might get offended, is not that bad after all and is actually more fun then the division, accusations and self censoring in which we've now evolved to.

You mentioned racist stuff right at the end of your post, but I don't believe I ever mentioned race or racist stuff in this thread, that notion came from inside your head and was brought up by you.

I do things my way, because that's the most comfortable way for me.

You not finding them funny doesn't surprise me at all, I don't mean that in a negative way to you. Most people under a certain age, just haven't been exposed enough to comedy from them times to get it, and have no interest in exploring it and understanding why it's funny.

As a genre it seems to me that today comedy comes behind drama, fantasy and horror amongst the younger generation, which means people ain't laughing as much anymore. The British were a nation known for its humour, but now all we seem to do is cry, and that's not good.

No dear, an insinuation used as an example of "political correctness" and how that overused term is used nowadays. Since you failed to expand on your comment, that's what others were left to do.

But you seem to have confirmed it was clickbait, which is against the forum rules.

Maybe a refresher course?

Also, when making a thread about comedy, best include some comedy.

Good, because rules are there to be broken and authority challenged, I'm nobody's submissive bitch and no storm trooper for the established order.

You can keep grassing me up to your masters all you want, but they'll never beat me without a fight.

Marsh Your first post to me started by you saying to me "Instead of patronising someone"

Your very next post to me started by you saying to me "No Dear" obviously patronising.

Why do you believe you're above the standards which you expect from everyone else?

i myself also like lots of comedy, i like the shows such as Seinfeld, Two and a half men

but also we are very much traditional at watching Christmas vacation, Gremlins around Christmas each year, lots of good humour in those movies too

not really, the old comedy which survived the test of time is still funny
but to say comedy now is pc and crap is a lazy proposition
