Default Zoe and sians talk about benefits/council estates

I’m watching the eviction episodes rn and I haven’t seen a thread on this and it was a pretty big part of the highlights. Kinda interesting seeing their thoughts on it. Sian made excellent points! Zoe did too but she seemed more whiny approaching the subject

Zoe has reason to be whiney. Carers allowance is a ****ing pittance, its shockingly low and they seem to look for any possible reason to remove it from people who need it. Even though carers save the country billions. Same as they look for any reason to remove sickness benefits from people who are obviously very ill.

I agree my mom was a carer for years and the pittance she got was laughable I think it was around £ 58 a week !!!! for this she looked after someone 24/7, fed him clothed him ,so yes Zoe has every right to gripe if these people were in homes it would cost hundreds a week, so carers are saving the country bags of money.

Don't get me started on removing sickness benefits. My friend had his (PIP) removed because he revealed he could use Google maps. I kid you ****ing not.

Plus, not all careers are entitled to the money.
Hubby gets his stamp contribution and that’s it,

Zoes total household income (assuming no part time employment) should be approx £21k / year.

The earnings cut off for getting any carer's allowance is an absolute joke (£120 a week, so less than £500 a month). In my opinion, it shouldn't be means tested, if you're a carer you're a carer. Anyone in receipt of disability allowance should be entitled to have a carer attached to it.

Scotland have bumped up carers allowance by about £10 a week (to be in line with Jobseekers Allowance) but its still low considering the work that's involved in being a carer.

Zoe had the perfect platform to blow away some stereotypes, but chose to spend most of her time on tv in her dressing gown

I’m a carer for my parents, but only my mother officially because you can only be acknowledged as one persons carer for some reason and it’s bloody hard going, I completely understood where she was coming from and they do try and take things away from you as much as they can, I had a mandatory appointment not long a go to see if I was still valid as a carer, I waited for two hours, to have a 1 minute conversation ‘are you still a carer?’ ‘Yes’ ‘okay that’s all we need, you can leave now, I’m not sure why you’re here’ it’s not as comfortable as people not in the position like to make out.

It’s why I don’t like people making sweeping generalisations about Zoe and her situation, I find it disgusting and inappropriate.

Zoe should get a job. Instead of sitting around all day in her dressing gown
If she can go on bb she can go and work in the mines
