Massive debts
https://news.sky.com/story/strugglin...-sale-11553746 [Shares in struggling airline Flybe have surged after it put itself up for sale amid turbulence caused by currency volatility and higher fuel costs. Flybe's stock soared by as much as 39% in early trading after it said it was "in discussions with a number of strategic operators about a potential sale of the company",] [The carrier did not disclose the names of any potential buyer, though one is likely to be Stobart Group, the owner of Southend Airport, which abandoned a previous bid earlier this year.] Sign Of The Times Last edited by arista; 05-03-2020 at 11:26 AM. |

Their bookings were down by 50 per cent compared to March last year, this is going to hit regional airports hard

95% of Southampton flights were flybe .... so it's ****ed unless someone buys it out of receivership. I wouldn't be surprised if Virgin take it on in a reduced format

Of course that was the plan Flybe was meant to become Virgin Connect. Many other planes are flying half empty all due to Covid 19 Virus. |

Flybe: all flights cancelled as airline ceases trading
28th of Jan 2023 [Regional airline Flybe has ceased trading and all its scheduled flights have been cancelled, the UK Civil Aviation Authority has announced. “All Flybe flights have now been cancelled. Please do not go to the airport as flights will not be operating,” the authority said in a statement early on Saturday. “Flybe customers who still need to travel will need to make their own alternative travel arrangements via other airlines, rail or coach operators,” it said. The airline said David Pike and Mike Pink had been appointed joint administrators and confirmed that all flights to and from the UK were cancelled and would not be rescheduled.] https://www.theguardian.com/business...ceases-trading |

Yes could be the case [Flybe was pushed into administration in March 2020 with the loss of 2,400 jobs as the Covid-19 pandemic destroyed large parts of the travel market. It then returned to the skies with a plan to operate up to 530 flights a week across 23 routes, serving airports such as Belfast City, Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Heathrow and Leeds Bradford. Before it went bust it flew the most UK domestic routes between airports outside London. Its business and assets were purchased in April 2021 by Thyme Opco, which is linked to US hedge fund Cyrus Capital. Thyme Opco was renamed Flybe Limited, based at Birmingham Airport.] |

I've never heard of it.
Post COVID the travel industry has really struggled. I feel sorry for all involved. It's not easy.
