The Foxtrot
The Foxtrot is a smooth, progressive dance characterized by long, continuous flowing movements across the dance floor. It is danced to big band(usually vocal) music. The dance is similar in its look to Waltz, although the rhythm is in a 4/4 time signature instead of 3/4. Developed in the 1910's, the Foxtrot reached its height of popularity in the 1930's, and remains practiced today A beautiful, romantic dance, the Foxtrot is composed of fairly simple walking steps and side steps. The dance combines slow steps, which use two beats of music, and quick steps, which use one beat of music. The footwork timing is usually "slow, quick, quick" or "slow, slow, quick, quick." The Foxtrot must be danced very smoothly, with no jerking of the body. Timing is also a very important component of the Foxtrot. As the Foxtrot is more challenging than other styles of dance, it is usually recommended to master the Waltz and Quickstep prior to attempting it Some of my favourite foxtrots Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton Helen George and Alijaz skorjanec Georgia May Foote and Giovanni pernice

The Argentine Tango
Argentine tango is a musical genre and accompanying social dance originating at the end of the 19th century in the suburbs of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. It typically has a rhythmic time signature, and two or three parts repeating in patterns such as ABAB or ABCAC. Its lyrics are marked by nostalgia, sadness, and laments for lost love. The typical orchestra has several melodic instruments and is given a distinctive air by the small button accordion called the bandoneon. It has continued to grow in popularity and spread internationally, adding modern elements without replacing the older ones Argentine tango is danced in an embrace that can vary from very open, in which leader and follower connect at arms length, to very closed, in which the connection is chest-to-chest, or anywhere in between. Tango dance is essentially walking with a partner and the music. Dancing appropriately to the emotion and speed of a tango is extremely important to dancing tango. A good dancer is one who transmits a feeling of the music to the partner, leading them effectively throughout the dance. Also, dancers generally keep their feet close to the floor as they walk, the ankles and knees brushing as one leg passes the other. Argentine tango dancing relies heavily on improvisation; although certain patterns of movement have been codified by instructors over the years as a device to instruct dancers, there is a "basic step" called "basico". One of the few constants across all Argentine tango dance styles is that the follower will usually be led to alternate feet. Another is that the follower rarely has his or her weight on both feet at the same time. In many modern variations of Argentine Tango, particularly in Europe, teachers of Tango may establish a "basic step" in order to help students to learn and pick up the "feel" of the dance Some of my favourite Argentine Tangos include Kara Tointon and Artem chivensent Joe mcfadden and Katya Jones Simon Webbe and Kristina Rhianoff

Any chance a mod can put this in the games section?
I don't think anyone is seeing it all the way down in the strictly section and it launches next week

The Rumba
A slow, romantic, and sensual Latin dance, born in the 1930's, taking elements from the Cuban Bolero. In this dance, both partners typically stand at close distance from each other, making slow and smooth movements throughout the dance. Natalie Gumede and Artem chivensent Jay Mcguiness and Aliona Vilani Rachel Stevens and Vincent Simone The Paso Doble Pasodoble (Spanish: double step) is a Spanish military march, and also a modern dance that emulates the movements of a bullfight. Essentially, the Pasadoble dance involves role-playing. This two-person dance form has the man performing as the bullfighter and the woman as the cape. It is known as one of the fastest Latin ballroom dances because dancers make around 120 to 130 beats/steps per minute. In some versions, the man portrays the matador in the dance, and the woman portrays the bull. Flamenco-likequalities infuse the dance as the man and woman challenge each other. Pasodoble is a lively style of dance to the duple meter march-like music. Its original form as a Spanish military march is still interpreted in the context of the Moors and Christians festivals, in southeastern Spain, and is the major focus of current Pasodoble productions. Alexandra Burke and Gorka marquez Danny Mac and Oti Mabusi Frankie Bridge and Kevin Clifton

The Quickstep
The quickstep is a light-hearted dance of the standard ballroom dances. The movement of the dance is fast and powerfully flowing and sprinkled with syncopations. The upbeat melodies that quickstep is danced to make it suitable for both formal and informal events. Quickstep was developed in the 1920s in New York City and was first danced by Caribbean and African dancers. Its origins are in combination of slow foxtrot combined with the Charleston, a dance which was one of the precursors to what today is called swing dancing. This dance gradually evolved into a very dynamic one with a lot of movement on the dance floor, with many advanced patterns including hops, runs, quick steps with a lot of momentum, and rotation. The tempo of quickstep dance is rather brisk, as it was developed to ragtime era jazz music, which is fast-paced when compared to other dance music. By the end of the 20th century the complexity of quickstep as done by advanced dancers had increased, with the extensive use of syncopated steps with eighth note durations. While in older times quickstep patterns were counted with "quick" (one beat) and "slow" (two beats) steps, many advanced patterns today are cued with split beats, such as "quick-and-quick-and-quick, quick, slow", with there being further steps on the 'and's. Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell Claudia Fragapane and AJ pritchard The Vienesse Waltz The Viennese waltz is the original form of the waltz. It was the first ballroom dance performed in the closed holdor "waltz" position. The dance that is popularly known as the waltz is actually the English or slow waltz, danced at approximately 90 beats per minute with 3 beats to the bar (the international standard of 30 measures per minute), while the Viennese waltz is danced at about 180 beats (58-60 measures) per minute The Viennese waltz is a rotary dance where the dancers are constantly turning either toward the leader's right (natural) or toward the leader's left (reverse), interspersed with non-rotating change steps to switch between the direction of rotation. As the waltz evolved, some of the versions that were done at about the original fast tempo came to be called specifically "Viennese waltz" to distinguish them from the slower waltzes. In the modern ballroom dance, two versions of Viennese waltz are recognized: International Style and American Style. Today the Viennese waltz is a ballroom and partner dance that is part of the International Standard division of contemporary ballroom dance. Kimberly Walsh and Pasha Kovalev Pixie Lott and Trent Whiddon Kellie Bright and Kevin Clifton Showdance The show dance (sometimes referred to as the freestyle) is the only dance in the series where there are no rules! It is only performed in the series final, and the couples are asked to dance a no holds barred, show stopping routine, incorporating whatever styles of dance they like, and often including a whole variety of lifts and spectacles for the viewers and judges to delight in. Louis Smith and Flavia Carcace Joe McFadden and Katya Jones Caroline Flack and Pasha kovalev Couples Choice The couples choose one of three styles: Contemporary (C) contains elements of ballet and modern dance and should be fluid and lyrical, and should contain emotive storytelling. Street/Commercial (SC) encompasses a range of all forms of urban dance such as hip hop, breakdancing, funks and music videos. Theatre/Jazz (TJ) is the style of musical theatre, telling a story through dance including modern theatre, soft shoe, tap and even burlesque. The couple’s choice has no restrictions on frame, hold or the number of lifts. Contemporary: Ashley Roberts and Pasha kovalev Jazz: Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice Street: Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell
