The Japanese have been taking a very dim view of Brexit for a while, businesses and politicians
The Guardian reports they almost cancelled talks about the future free trade agreement with Britain bc they didn't like the British offical letter urging them to hurry up.
They also refused to give Britain the same conditions as those of their trade agreement with the EU. Obvs they'll ask for more concessions. Surprise, not. Brexit Britain.

Come on LT. All of these are small (relative to something like Honda) startups that are never going to replace the multinationals that are jumping ship. Not if you could name 100 of them. Also, though I'll admit I didn't check them all, I looked at a random sample of four of them and ALL of those were founded or moved to the UK later than 2015... before the Brexit referendum had even been mentioned, let alone won by Leave.

Do you have any examples of companies that are rushing in to "fill the void" post-referendum?

The UK's boy racer community, boycott the Civic Type-R? That's one of the most far-fetched things I've ever heard!

Or... we could go on supporting countries that, after promising to stay, taking the incentives... then leave, plunging lots of our countrymen and women into unemployment. Who wants to use their hard earned cash to buy stuff from people who are screwing us?

Not enough people care enough for it to make an impact, is my suspicion. I mean, look at Amazon, or Google, or Apple, or any of the other huge companies that dodge various taxes and screw us all more than literally ANYTHING else (e.g. all the benefit fraud in the country x100 doesn't hold a candle to tax evasion) but are people out supporting local businesses, or even UK based chains? Increasingly year on year we're still using our iPhones to "get things £5 cheaper off Amazon".

My point I guess is that if people like the look of a Civic they're going to buy a Civic. Politics just isn't a consideration for enough people for boycotts to be effective.

Nestle has been boycotted for decades because of their shameful tactics in Africa but they don't give a ****... it hasn't changed anything... and never will so long as the profits they make from those tactics are greater than the loss they incur from the boycott.
