The Panama Papers – millions of documents about offshore entities leaked in April 2016 – have generated €8m in extra taxes and fines for the Dutch treasury, Trouw said on Wednesday.
So far, the tax office has identified some 500 individuals and companies with links to the documents, which came from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca, the paper said. The information has since been compressed into 200 separate cases, and around half have already been dealt with, Trouw said. The documents revealed the tax evasion strategies used by thousands of companies, politicians, sports stars and businessmen. The global total in fines and back taxes is at least €1bn, the paper said. Of that, some €225m has been raised by the UK authorities and €122m by the French. https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2019/0...easury-so-far/ was on this dutch breakfast news this morning
