Two boys have died and a man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after an "incident" at a house in Sheffield.

Officers were called to "reports of concerns for safety" at a home in Gregg House Road, Shiregreen, at 07:30 BST.

The boys, aged 13 and 14, were taken to hospital with four other children and have since died.

The other children aged between seven months and 11 remain in hospital

A 37-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

South Yorkshire Police said the cause of death of the boys had not yet been established.

Post-mortem tests will be carried out "in due course", the force said.

Det Ch Insp Simon Palmer said: "I appreciate the events of this morning have caused concern locally but I'd like to reassure you that there is no wider risk to the community.

"To allow the investigation to progress, I would please ask that people are mindful of what they are posting on social media and the potential distress this may cause."

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called out to assist and landed in the grounds of nearby Hartley Brook Primary Academy.

The school is not believed to have been involved in the incident.

A police cordon remains in place around Gregg House Road, with buses being diverted from the area.

Well it says the police remind people to be mindful of what they write on social media etc so best be careful what we write but something must have triggered them doing that to all of their children. Awful situation

...yeah I’m not sure with the headline...I guess because she is the only parent who has been charged..?...it’s just an inconceivable thing for a mother to take the lives of her children .....

The husband or partner has also been charged with murder, it was reported earlier on the radio

The thought that the mother had a seven month old baby made me wonder if she was suffering from serious postpartum.
Not sure how that would account for any other suspect

Well an update is they poisoned them all ! the younger ones we all taken from their primary school to hospital , they had been poisoned over several days !

I read about them being poisoned as well also, read but not sure how true this is that the partner is her half brother and father to all the kids

Yes and in court she was shouting BASTARD at him ! thank god they got the younger ones to hospital in time .

It is all beyond belief why they would do this.
