Default 'its too political'

This is not aimed at anyone here, just in general. Is anyone else sick of this sentiment? Like i can understand not wanting to be associated with politics or having mass debates about stuff all the time but tbh i mostly see this used when someone the person doesn't personally agree with is brought up. Like i see celebrities being accused of being too political or politicising something, but these same people champion other celebrities for stating opinions they agree with.

Well it's against the rules for a start , lets hope the OP comes back and tells Parmy exactly what he means , as I'm not sure either.

The first sentence of the OP is literally “This isn’t aimed at anyone here just in general”

I'm sick of both - I'm sick of politics being clumsily shoved into escapism, and I'm sick of people moaning endlessly about it.

I tend to find that the people who say it tend to be the ones who oppose diversity and those it benefits but have the sense not to openly admit their bigotry. It's always a warning sign when I meet someone who says something like that.

I'm not keen on people in the public eye being political. Singers, and actors for instance, I'm sure most of them are fairly intelligent but I don't want to be preached at by anyone who is famous for a living and who try to use their platform to make me think like they do. I don't care whether I agree with them or whether I don't, whether they're red, blue or any other colour, just keep your politics to yourself and stop trying to influence people.

Laughably wrong.

Having an opposing opinion to a political party is not being against diversity, it's simply speaking out against a government you disagree with and that's not bigotry since Boris is hated for his views and ideals, not who he is.

You're basically false equating someone having an opinion on a politician you love to them attacking them in a way that's akin to racism or homophobia and that's just wrong. Your attempts at eroding someone's right to an opinion by making it seem less so is an attitude that is slowly pushing us all towards a 1984-esque future.

I think it's slightly different as a lot of those famous people fund political parties they support. So it's like they become the adverts/faces of/part of those policies, almost as much as the politicians themselves.

Otherwise, I agree a random singer gobbing off on instagram is annoying, even if they have a right to do it. Especially if they're just shouting what's popular with no knowledge/intelligence to engage in the debate.

But a celeb actively involved in causes they believe in, and using their platform and financial aid to make a difference and not just blowing hot air I can't help but think good for them.

Or more likely, they don't like the government and they want their views to be heard because we live in a country in which we can voice our opinions if we don't like what the government is doing or where it's headed, you might not like that but you just gotta deal with it.
